Should be on the bench at the very least.

I agree with this but it goes to show what TP thinks of him when he is willing to let Diao and Delap finish out the game (quite possibly the worse midfield pair we could field) when there was every chance we could have nicked a goal back.
I think he deserves a go in prem and like its been said before he can't do much worse than our central midfield normally does.

Totally agree. Arsmendi looked very good and was also relaxed and calm on the ball. Excellent run through on goal as well before he was fouled and denied a certain free kick.

He won't be seen again, especially now we are out of that!
He did look decent though, well worth a try

Agree with everything that's been said.
I like Delap and have respect for Diao's past achievements but it hardly bodes well for the club's future to continually keep younger players out of the team, whilst running his favoured 'experienced' ones into the ground.

Gotta agree Diego looked the real deal tonight . He definitely deserves more chances in the 1st team . Gotta say, though, that given TP's proclivities that seems unlikely .

Definitely worth a seat on the bench for saturday ahead of whitehead and delap because he can pass to his own team on the ground also though a Palacios looked ok

I was impressed with Diego and Palacios but I think the pace of the game suited them better. Think this is why we haven't seen much of Arismendi - he's hardly pulled up any trees on loan has he? But he's always done well in the slower European games when I've seen him. The same is true of Palacios. Palacios' fitness is a mystery - perhaps he will never be fit enough to play a full game for us, but hopefully he will play more of a part next season. I personally don't think the game was any slower than it usually is in the prem.

I couldn't believe he ran forward with the football has this ever happened under Pulis? A midfielder running forward, instead of passing it sideways, backwards or aimlessly hoofing it. I thought he was MOTM anyway. Seriously ..... has it ever happened??

There'll be non of that passing shit round here. these players have to buy into the way we do things at this football club and if they don't they won't play, simply as. Fookin passing, eh Kempy, sort them two fookin deigo's out will you.

Delap, Whealen,Whitehead. The perfect foil for any Pulis problems. It does not matter what they do matchday, he loves their work ethic through the week. Shows the young uns whats expected.Thats why Walters plays every game,Ultimate pro. ITS ALL ABOUT HARD WORK>FORGET SKILL< FORGET TECNIQUE > forget my spelling> ITS WANK AND FOR FIRST TIME SINCE I WAS 11 IM EMBARREST BY THE COMMENTS ABOUT OUR FOOTBALL TEAM::CLUB----TRUTH HURTS

In fairness to Pulis, I don't think he is totally convinced by any of whelan, whiteahead or delap. Whelan has played most this season, but last season he struggled to cement a place at times. Whitehead an delap have rotated this season.
Hopefully we start to see abit more of arismendi and palacios.
Unless arismendi was unusually decent tonight, then I see no reason for him to be more involved.
These past few months we have been so poor (poorer than usual) in the centre of the park. Hopefully Tone has abit of bottle, as abit of new life in the team could be a bright spark we all need.

After tonights performance by Diego surely TP has to be questioned on why he is not in front of Rory, Whelan and Whitehead for a CM starting place, he was head and shoulders above anything offered by Rory, Whelan and Whitehead in the 1st leg.

Arismendi played very well, but it's worth mentioning a few points, without taking anything away from his performance at all.
1) He played in a midfield 3, not a 2, which helps certain players. 2) He played at the much slower tempo of European football.

It certainly does make you wonder what Rory has to do in order to be dropped I know he does break the play up however his hospital passes are even worse this season. Realistically how many more seasons have Diao and Delap got at this level anyway???

Wouldn't mind seeing Palacios + Arismendi given a game, should allow Pennant + Etherington to bomb forward and perhaps even be able to retain posession and pass a ball!
But it'll be an absolutely jaded Walters on the wing and a 67 year old Delap in the centre and Arismendi will now sadly be confined to the history books because Pulis couldn't give a pigs cunt about any sort of player with a modicum of flair, that and he's young and foreign.
Love the bloke for what he's done but i've had it with Pulis this season, the lack of January signings when we were desperate for some new additions and the dog-shit tactics have just absolutely drained me, I can't wait until this season is over now.

We know TP will resort to the 'old firm' for the weekend, given the players that were rested last night, but I was impressed by Arismendi and Palacios (to a lesser degree) and I believe that they should both be on the bench at the very least.....just my opinion, like!!

Why is it TP's fault if a player plays well? For picking this player for this game was wrong? Now for not picking him for the first XI is wrong? I'm confused ???

I agree, but tonight Arismendi was the wider man in a three, with Diao sitting in the middle. Fuller and Jerome were floating between midfield and attack, making up a 5 at times. The point i'm trying to make is how would he work in a hustle and bustle orthodox 4-4-1-1 that we're been using in the Premier League and Championship since the year dot? It puts more pressure on the two, especially when we are a man down against a 3, as we have been recently. Would he get found out? Would Pulis shift to a 4-5-1/4-3-3 in the Premier League? It has been mooted in the press, so was tonight a test run?
