Don't forget Valencia rested their keeper, captain and top goal scorer. Is that just one player or three?

Does no one think Harry was talking bollocks? To go on and say he thought they were a moderate team is unbeilievable! They are a far better side to us in terms of quality and IMO Harrys got that one wrong, blaming the back room staff for the players not being basically 100% world beaters, we do lack the quality of Valencia which is granted but you can't knock our effort or tony pulis last night because I thought it was a good team selection and the ball never dropped for us! And as for john acres he's entitled to contest people's opinion surely? After all P&G is all about a debate.

He was plainly an older supporter and Season Ticket Holder. And he was openly ridiculed; you could almost picture Acres pulling faces at his sidekick as he took the mickey. Was his continual taunting about "We're not playing on Saturday" either professional or appropriate? In any event, Harry didn't say that Valencia were a moderate team - he actually prefaced his answer by saying: What tonight? I thought they were moderate. There are quite a few people who might agree with that but as I say, that's not really the point.

There is another thread about this - perhaps they should be merged? I have tweeted Acres to tell him that his behaviour was unnecessary - I also mentioned that there are two threads on The Oatcake about it! I doubt he'll respond. In fairness to him, he did reply. He said: Point Taken and he accepted that with the benefit of hindsight, he had gone too far. It doesn't look like I was the only one to Tweet him about it either!

Acres has been put in his kennel by Stoke City it's as simple as that. He wants to take a lesson or two from the Sky guy who refused to let King Kenny bully him at the weekend. I suppose that's why Acres is on local radio. I guess thats just it. Sky have the muscle to take on these Managers. What did Acres do?

You never hear Acres 'playing devil's advocate' when the happy clappers phone in so he can't hide behind that excuse. He's been bullied by Pulis (as have all the local media it seems) and either he or his employers (the BBC remember) haven't got the balls not to cower.

Harry was brilliant he cheered our car right up. The point about Skeels being in the other players shorts was world class!!!! Good on you Harry.
Acres came across as a right smart arse when there was no need. It was obvious Harry was blowing off steam and frustrated by the defeat. His points were not the best and were perhaps not right in the eyes of many BUT he is entitled to his opinion. As we all are.

I hope someone goes on that show and wipes the fucking floor with him to be honest. I did, 2 years ago, now my calls aren't taken when I ring up. If he's been bullied by Pulis and/or SCFC then I do have a certain amount of sympathy for him - he does have a family to feed - but it shows a deeper level of spite and bile from a petty manager, out of his depth in so many ways, who resorts to his on field playing style, "I know can't play fair, so I'll kick someone".

He was seriously immature when he was pointing out that "Stoke aren't playing on Saturday" sounded like a playground bully. Yeh, that did seem unnecessary to try and catch the caller out like that, he was clearly a man of a certain age, and we've all mistakenly said "Saturday" when we mean Sunday, there was no need to pull him up so childishly like acres did.

If anyone does not think Valencia are a top notch team they must be out of their minds. Passing, ball retention, movement on and off the ball superb. Long range shooting mind blowing.
We cannot continue with our kick and rush stuff we have to start passing and moving. How the morons giving the man of the match could pick Walters I do not know. His first second and third touches are crap. Crouch is on a 4year deal over 50,000 a week. Is he worth it???? But we have to start passing. Your players dont have to be world beaters just told how to pass and move. PLEASE

Heard the pillock on the way home.
"Old Harry" was a bit OTT but didn't deserve the "smug-bastard" response from Acres.
Someone needs to put him down - live on P&G. Proper tosser - if he worked for me his feet wouldn't touch the floor on his way out of the building.

Sometimes in life you have to be careful what you wish for. There were many on here salivating at the return of Acres - and now the knives are out. Bring back Matt Sandoz?
No doubt it will be the same when our 'petty manager' goes. Be careful what you wish for.

I don't mind so much who does Radio Stoke, but there should be an element of balance about the programme. The station either seems to be under a direction from the club not to broadcast anything which may present them in a bad light or it is just poor journalism with personal agendas winning through..........not sure out of the two which it is, but if you can't remain professional in a job which has so much power to influence so many then questions should be asked. Surprised Acres did behave in the way towards Harry as the BBC are so PC....but then perhaps PC really refers to our chariman?

I think Acres is far too arrogant, so needs to be knocked down a peg or two. I can accept he has to toe the club line, but not by putting down genuine fans who are not as articulate as him. On a separate note, it drives me nuts when he goes on about how cold he is, and how many layers of clothing he is wearing. Who gives a sh** Yes, it can be cold at the Brit, but he is paid to commentate on the match, no one is interested in his heated socks - I sit in the JSU, I just wear a big coat - simples!! I shall try to ring Radio Stoke to-night to have a go at his attitude & self proclamations

It doesn't really matter who fronts the programme we will still get the same stuff about "look where we we 5 years ago" etc. It does look as though the station is just a mouthpiece for the club and Pulis. In the old days it used to be called propaganda.
The treatment of Harry was shameful but it's been the same for weeks now. Any one who doesn't ring in praise is treated as a half wit as my son said last night they should rename Praise and Grumble and call it Praise or F*** Off.

I quite like it - it's got a certain ring to it. But haven't BBC Hereford&Worcester nabbed it for their Sunday morning religion programme? ;D

Acres is a puppet and always has been. From day one he's obnoxiously shouted down anyone who wants to say anything other than "hooray for everything". This is why I couldn't understand why people were so arsed that Radio Stoke had told him to quite literally "fuck off up the Vale".

Someone called in after the Fulham game that was very honest and said what most people are thinking. When he questioned Acres about his shit stabbing stance with the club he sounded like he was going to cry.

i have always liked acres as a football presenter, but last night he was out of order the way he spoke to harry, myself being an older supporter agreed with quite a lot that harry said, particurlarly about stoke players not running too much, i think he meant to say they werent running in the proper channnels and just being headless chickens, good on you harry for maintaining your dignity.. apology from mr acres please and maybe from his regular fan club followers . they know who they are dont they mr acres

I don't mind Acres toeing the party line, he's setting himself up for a fall, his business.
What I don't like is egging others on to take the p*** out of a felow supporter, including Steve Simonsen. He sounded like the playground bully and in fact made our carload actively cheering Harry.
acres could have cut Hary short at any point, but let him go on and then try to belittle him. It was a complete tw@s trick, and I have zero respect for him. Balls if I'm listening to P&G again to be honest.

Harry sounded like a very mild mannered old Stokie who has seen more than most on here. He kept his dignity and his temper yesterday and I believe made some very valid points and perhaps, due to some stupid directional questioning by a trained professional radio presenter, some less valid ones.
Either way, Harry is a died in the wool long standing Stokie who has seen it all, and as such should not be treated like that. Acres should apologise on P&G tonight - totally out of order.

Acres is becoming what Alan Partridge would call 'bitter bastards' but as has been said he's trapped and is now living with the fact he's sold out his principles to feed his family. Welcome to the Premiershit which apparently has as much power over the media as any political party. I guess PC's donations to the Labour Party should reap dividends in some form!
