Are you a Vulcan or something?.. Read my posts before you try to be clever. Never said that swearing as a whole was bad. Just in front of kids. Without meaning to be picky - Surely any player caught swearing or mouthing an obscentity on camera should therefore be punished? Or as Rooney didn't actually swear at a child, he swore at a bloke who put a camera in his face he has done nothing wrong and it's the broadcasters that should be at fault? For me the camera man shouldn't be running round trying to get as close to the action as possible with a mic because it is obvious there is going to be some choice language used and therefore there is a chance it will be broadcast whilst kids are watching. It's easy to be critical of the players in this situation but the man is only trying to do his job. This thread is never going to end I think the difference here is between being caught swearing in front of the camera and being caught swearing at the camera. You could also argue that the camera man was only doing his job, which would be getting as close to the goal scorer as possible during his celebration. I'm sure that had Rooney of shouting 'fucking yeah' near the camera and not directly into it that he would not have been punished. It was the manner in which he said and did it that has led to him being punished.

TBH Rooney is a TWAT of the first order.
What comes around etc....
He has got away with too many offences in the past and its about time that players like him got banned.
Rant over.
In fact if refs had more bollocks they would have been sending him off more regularly for past offences on the field.
Now rant over.

No footballer should be seen as a role model to children ( or celebrity) a Children own parents should be their childs role model, children need to learn right from wrong and all adults do wrong at times, it up to us adults to teach, right from wrong and when a child sees a n adult doing wrong , then it up to us to point out what we think is wrong to our own children. I dont allow swearing in my house. Rooney swearing does not bother me.

Swearing is a poor excuse for a poor understanding of the English language. To some extent, but when I say rooney is a cunt, its not for want of a better word.

i understand the points that say all football fans swear in the crowd that is heard on TV. the difference is rooney was doing his job. all jobs have rules. he broke the rules, so hes been punished. just like any normal working class person would do.
stupid nob.

I think in the first instance Rooney is thick as pig poop and to be perfrctly honest what did SKY expect when he was near the camera, doesn't excuse it at all mind. The camera man may only have been doing his job but bearing this in mind which one of those two jobs is more important in the context of the football match. If they are going to have cameramen down and close to the action then maybe the simplest thing to do would not be to have a mic on them and then this incident would not have been as big as it is, he would still have been shouting the obsencity but it wouldn't have been loud and could have saved a lot of parents some embarassment. Regarding the 2nd one, yes maybe he would have got it away with it but then the argument about swearing would still be relevant as he has still sworn on the telly in front of the world. For me the blame still has to be pushed at Sky somewhat, it is them that want to broadcast this to the world and I think they should be fined for broadcasting the obscenity. With this in mind I'm not so sure they would want there cameramen on the pitch getting involved in the celebration. Rooney was in the wrong but at the same time there needs to be consistency from now on if they are really going to clamp down on it.

Is there anywhere you can bet on the outcome of his appeal?
It'll be reduced to one game so he can play in the semi I'm convinced. I'm sure the FA realised that at the time and settled for a one game ban before handing him two and awaiting his appeal.
Like printing your own money that bet!

A bit of a dick he maybe but englands best player. And one thing i do like about him is that he has a passion for the game, something missing from a lot of modern footballers.

Interesting article by Supt. Mark Payne from Wolverhampton Police, who says that 'had Rooney behaved like that in Wolverhampton on a Saturday night, he would have expected his officers to lock him up'. He continues 'people in positions of influence have an obligation to behave like human beings'. Mark Payne says he has seen thousand Rooneys, as most police officers have. 'The same aggressive stance, the bulging eyes, the foul-mouthed rant, fists clenched, surrounded by his mates all cheering him on'. And what did Alan Shearer say - he made a mistake, he's apologised for it, end of. Rooney is a talented idiot, but I thought Shearer had more sense. Well done to the FA for upholding the 2 match ban!!!
