Incidentally, how many of the millions watching have complained to Sky, the Premier League or the FA?

Has anyone said people should be able to go around doing whatever they want?
Question is where do you draw the line? Just players? or do we then start to ban fans who feel the need to spend 90 minutes hurling abuse at those on the pitch?
Also i hear this respect for referees etc... would these be the same people who abuse the ref at Stoke week in week out?
People who are successful and have what others can only dream about will always be targeted.
If this was a league 2 game or lower on TV then nobody would care, it's the jealousy that comes out to play so the only way to deal with it is to try and punish those who have what we don't.
Also i'm sure there would be uproar if golden boy Fuller or someone like Walters did it and they got banned, we'd be saying oh its the passion blah blah blah.
Double standards guys this thread is riddled with it from page one.

No it isn't. Players shouldn't tell the ref to fuck off. Straight red. Rooney wouldn't get to finish a game would he? Soon stop it though.
Players shouldn't yell obscenities down a microphone. One match ban. That'll stop it.

I simply replied to your post after you had called my opinion bollocks.
You then respond on another thread stating that he shouldn't have to keep his mouth shut.
To the other poster who suggested that its the same as me swearing at the ground where TV cameras are as it is to me actually finding one and bellowing expletives is beyond belief.

greyman is right.
apart form the bit where he got what i was saying the wrong way round.
sending off players for foul and abusive language is already allowed, and should be the normal result of abusing the ref. it isn't, but it should be.

I don't think they should be sent off for it unless it's aimed at the ref. All this whining over what Rooney has done is pathetic imo. But he's been charged and faces a 2 game ban.

The sooner they crack down on these scumbags the better. About time the FA started sticking up for the officials and footy fans and stop letting arseholes like Rooney and Ferguson get away with murder (figuratively speaking).

Perhaps, then he would have gone to prison, effectively ending his career, rather than getting paid 300k for sitting on the bench for 2 weeks. Yep, missing 180 minutes of football is harsh beyond compare.

Mmmm.....When you get mature men commenting that they don't see much wrong with Rooney's behaviour , it just shows how low our standards have fallen. I've never been as disenchanted with British football (Premiership) as I am right now.
ONE LAST POINT : ROONEY EARNS £240,000 A WEEK (Basic wage) + Sports endorsement sponsorship renumeration.

Should be banned until the end of the season. The sooner the FA clamp down on these swearing thugs and players who also cheat, the better the game will be.
If he was fined, it would have been about as much use as fining me 10p for speeding.

Haven't we already discussed the difference between being caught red handed 'live on tv' and something happening in the background with no concrete evidence or people to press charges.
Anyway, imo, a two match ban is fair. I've actually gained a little more respect for the FA for doing this and long may it continue.

I don't think anyone will defend his behaviour, it was dumb but for the FA to take action against this when they take no action against the likes of Essien for the so called "tackle" on Pennant or Cole for shooting someone in training just shows how out of touch with the real world the FA are. Conspiracy theory alert - The head of the FA is ex Man City chairman Bernstein and Rooney now misses the semi against Man City.

He's just scored a goal, of course the cameras are going to be on him, he stared directly at the lens. I don't really care about this issue, it's up to Rooney if he wants to act like kevin the teenager and make himself look like a disgusting chav.

If he had swore at the ref/linesman then yeah ban him. But he didn't. Players should be allowed to swear on the pitch as long as it's not in contempt of authority.
