Best thing ive heard all night, no chance of it happening. Anton Ferdinand is one of the worst defenders ive seen in this league, behind george Elekobi.

And Danny Pugh turned down a 200K a week deal with Real Madrid to extend his contract with us.

For him to end up at Sunderland totally depends on whether they have 15-20M worth of players to sell first.
Remember, we have to think of the "net" spend.

which players would you take from us then captain I like Shawcross, Huth, and Etherington from Stoke. I also think that Wilson will come good for you if afforded a little more freedom. Fuller is a cracking player, but I get the feeling that he is very much a special case to Stoke. A talismanic figure. He feeds off the Brit crowd and the Brit crowd respond to him. Neither are quite the same without the other.

Paul Stewart and Alex Rae for Shawcross would do me. :-) In his prime with us, Alex Rae was a better and more valuable player than Shawcross imo. No slight on Shawcross, but Rae was absolutely superb.

Ferdinand has been poor for us, but must admit he really has come good this season. Playing very well indeed. Same as Bardsley really. Very strange. Mind, we still have 3 centre backs I'd rather have in the side to him.

Apparently, Bruce transfer listed him last season and it gave him the shock of his life. So he went to train with some professional boxers all summer, came back fitter, stronger, tougher, and more determined. It shows too. Phil Bardsley is one of those I have to hold my hands up over and admit he has proven me wrong. I couldn't wait to get rid of him.

Fair play to him, it's bizarre that a desperately average right back can be a revelation at left back? Mind you when (a much younger) Andy Griffin started out at Stoke he was played at left back and was outstanding despite naturally being right footed. I never felt he looked quite as good at right back strangely enough (although he was very two footed to be fair.)

I am starting to think of Phil Barsley as Danny Collins v2.1. Great attitude and professionalism, but actually a master of the defending basics too. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/0m0lbCuTEBzaRn6f8QaM.gif)

(although I have just cracked on another thread! ![:-X](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/84w9NwSsj6YY9VWeECaY.gif) ) My best mate is a mag, and after they stuffed us this season he said to me "you must be finding it hard to back Steve Bruce after that surely?". My reply was, and I meant every word, "Quite the contrary. I am still, and always will be, eternally grateful to Steve Bruce for ridding my club of Danny Collins.". To me, Collins really is that bad and I can't tell you how sick to the stomach it made me feel every time he pulled on a Sunderland shirt.
