We hit the woodwork on numerous occasions and you say it should be Kenwyn with Ricci starting and yet if those had dipped an inch or two lower then such is the fickle mindedness of a football supporter there wouldn't even be the need for a god damned thread about it. But because it didn't dip an inch or two lower the typical football supporter doesn't take a step back and think just how many chances were actually made. Walters with Kenwyn all the way when playing with two out and out wingers. Any chance of answering my question please tazi? cheers

happy with Walters starting over Fuller? That's like going home and asking what's for tea and thanking your missus for sh**ing on your plate. Beautifully put. ;D

I still think your best team includes your best players and Ric is clearly one of them.

Ricardo Fuller is the most skillful player at our club. No other player worries defences like Fuller does and that includes KJ, Ethers and Pennant. The only player who has more class but is woefully unfit is EG. Anyone who can't see that Fuller is still the most important player at the club and should be starting and not coming on with 20 minutes to go to firefight is quite frankly missing the whole point of someone like Fuller in the first place.

It wasn't starting Walters that compromised us it was hitting the woodwork on numerous occasions that did that. Those go in then theres no thread............ simples really. And what about West Ham's effort that crashed against the bar? It's not that simple tazi and you know it. If you start both Walters and Pennant together, then who comes on for Pennant if he gets injured? It's not like we're struggling for strikers at the moment is it ... why expose ourselves to potentially having to play Rory out there, when we've got such an embarassment of riches in the striker department as it is? Yes, West Ham hit the woodwork 'once i recall, it happens, no big deal'. Pennant goes of injured then either Rory moves over to the right or Walters goes there and dependant on how the momentum is going you could brng on Ricci. Walters and Jones all the time when setting out with two out and out wingers.

Why waste the best striker at the club though tazi?
It's like saying we'll start with Andrew Davies at centre half and bring Ryan on after 70 minutes.

Ric is one of our best players but for me when playing with two out and out wingers you need players that will hustle and bustle for the whole match. Ricci doesn't provide that and that's not knocking him either. You play with two out and out wingers then Stoke are going to need someone that hustles and bustles the opposition because if not you'll get picked off more often than not.

We're playing with fire arsing around with Fuller.
Anyone who thinks Walters should be starting ahead of the best striker this club has had for thirty years is just blindly supporting anything our manager does.
And anyone who thinks we're going to get the very best out of Ric week in, week out by asking him to play for twenty minutes here and there is utterly deluded. Eventually it will affect his match sharpness, and before we long we'll get the usual suspects justifying his absence from the team, probably labelling him a "feckless waster" and wanting him moved on.
Hopefully TP will soon see sense and get him into the first team.

Ronaldo, Messi, Torres and Drogba would all scare the shit out of tired defenders coming on as a sub in the last 20 minutes aswell but funnily enough that's not how their managers use them, as they know 90 minutes against fit defenders is better than 20 against tired ones. Weird eh?

It will be Jones and Gudjonson up front once he is up to full fitness, Ric will be an impact sub; walters will be back up on the bench for a striker role and to fill in on the wing.

Rory is rubbish on the right flank tazi.

Of course Rory is rubbish on the right flank, he's there to get in there faces in much the same way as Walters is in the starting eleven alongside Kenwyn when there's two out and out wingers on the pitch.

But, at the end of the day, it's not only him, but the team as well, that are going to suffer if the manager buries his head any further in the sand

Of course Rory is rubbish on the right flank So why (by starting Walters) run the risk of trying to win a game with Rory having to cover that position (like yesterday), when we already have such an embarssment of riches in the striker department?

I can't not comment on what I think of Walters. I feel really dipondant at the moment cos I reckon we've taken a step back with this signing! To play him before Fuller and Tuncay tells us a lot about Pulis's mentality and this is why I feel so unhappy at the moment. I honestly thought we were looking to move that step up in class to continue our progress in this league with the type of players mentioned as potential signings. We sign some quality in GJ and Pennant and then Walter's comes along. He is a worker I agree but as absolutely no class whatsoever and will not score more than 3 or 4 goals a season. What really worries me is that Pulis obviously can not see this at all! I really hope I'm proved wrong with this one! We'll see!

You play Your best players from the start. Ricardo Fuller is our best player and should start. It really is that simple for me. This. Starting Tuncay and Kenwyne would make more sense than Kenwyne and Walters (and I do like Walters). We don't look far, far less like scoring wothout Fuller on the field. It's been true in every game this season, it's been true since we were promoted, and it was true in the Championship.

He doesn't though does he Tazi? Ethers actually offers far more cover to his full back defensively than Rory has been doing lately.

If anybody on here can tell me one thing Walters is better than Fuller at, i'll start wearing a Tony Pulis mask to the match.

At the time everyone thought "Why" ? we have a superb target man now so no need for him. It is obvious now TP sees KJ as the front man which is madness ! KJ & Ric all day long from the first minute ! Impact sub is just bollox, it can be used as an argument for ANY player .

Depressing, Coggs. We thought he was replacing Sidibe, whereas it seems he thought he was replacing Fuller Barking, barking mad. KJ can probably make a fist of both roles, but to say we're more in need of his abilities to be an improved Sidibe is a bit ofan understatement.

Just where do we start with this one! I agree totally with the majority on here. Ric has to start with KJ. We have to pick the best 11 players and get square pegs in square holes. I'm not sure where Walters fits other than a back up on the right.
Unfortunately too many of TP's signings and selections are based on his risk-averse attitude to the game. He likes players who are jacks and not masters, hence Delap on the right, Collins at left-back, Huth at right-back etc. I recognise that you need these types in the squad but not keeping out our best players. This is not new but is magnified in the rarified atmosphere of the Premier League.
I do worry that Ric will get frustrated and be added to the list of "issues" we have seen in the past year. No player has a right to play all the time but when you see Fuller, Pennant and Whelan change the game against the Villa they might expect to get a start the next game. Competition for places only works when it is seen as fair and on the evidence of the last year I'm not sure it is. The EG situation will be very interesting. When, or if, he's ever fit enough to play what will be the approach? I think this will challenge all TP's man-management capability.
And then there's Marc Wilson. Where was he bought to play? Another thread I'm sure!
