THREE GOALS ! Sorry to bring facts into it! So he contributes nothing beyond that? Match of the Day. It's the only explanation. Kudos to you for sticking it out and watching us at the very end though. That's support. arfing here

Jones in the Mama role and Fuller as the spearhead is potentially the best combination we have. Fuller causes mayhem, wins countless free-kicks and throw ins, and anybody who has the faintest idea about what they're watching can see that.
I'd also be interested to see how Tuncay would perform if Jones plays as the front-man and Tunc gets the chance to play in the hole behind him. Tuncay never had a suitable strike partner last season, but I think Jones has the attributes to bring out the best in anybody who plays alongside him.
However, I'd choose either of these combinations ahead of having Walters run around a lot behind Jones. Nothing is beyond Pulis though when it comes to ignoring the obvious solution.

What are you on about here? I've told you I've got a season ticket ffs. We scored very few goals last season, Fuller has to share most of the blame for that seeing as he was supposed to be the main striker, sorry to talk sense and facts rather than hyperbolic nonsense. Gerd Muller at his peak would struggle to score goals in our side because we don't create enough. And we create even less when Fuller isn't on. Or do you think the goals we've scored in the last couple of seasons have magicked themselves out of the sky?

Nope, because Fuller is not up to it, will soon be 31, all fine to have a little cameo here and there but ultimately not up to full games at this level any more.

we dont score enough because of pulis reluctance to let his centre midfielders push forward. end of. Added to no full backs which in modern football are essential to most teams attacking play.

It's really working a treat so far. Why play him for the sake of it? He isn't up to it any more, simple as that, you may not be happy with the replacements, but we have to move on from relying on Fuller when it so obviously did not work last season.

So, with respect to this thread, and in the words of Dragon's Den, I'm out.

I'd play him because we still look utterly moribund when he doesn't play. When that changes, by all means let's look at other options. Until then, we're essentially not kicking off until an hour's been played and hoping we're not 3-0 down by then.

pulis knows this though BO and he is not going to hange the habit of a life time, for as long as TP is boss we will always play the same way, defenders will defend and so will 2 CM players.
we can buy as much footballing quality as we like but TP will always play the way he knows, he's to stubborn not too.......which all imo leads to a waste of money buying real quality players to play a system handpicked championship players can do just as effectively.
We've just signed Gudjohnsson, what are the odds we don't free him to give him creative and footballing freedom, he'll be horse shoed into a mama role.

So sorry to come in at the end of another AGSF/Mr Two Degrees/Ligeia/Slang King masterclass of talking complete and utter bollocks - I could have done with the laugh earlier in the day how busy and painful my work has been!
If you have been a season ticket holder, of Ricardo's 146 Stoke games (40 goals) I would guess you have watched, say, a minimum of 70 Stoke games in which he has played in the past four seasons, as a rough guide. If you cannot see what Ricardo Fuller has done for the team in that time, it really does beggar belief.

I have to say that I have found the ramblings of Slangking both surprising and amazing.
Never in my life did I think I could stumble on a person that knows less about football than my own mate. In fact, if I didn't know that my mate was currently making his way back from playing football this evening, I would swear that Slangking could indeed be him.
Fuller is no longer up to it...Fuller contributes nothing...Fuller is no threat in front of goal! I have heard it all now.
Fuller has started 2 games this season and has come on as a sub 3 times. In those games, he has scored 1 goal, hit the cross bar, turned around a losing cause in our favour and almost scored an unbelievable goal of individual brilliance, yet we still have someone maintaining, whether on the wind up or otherwise, that he is justifiably ommited from our starting 11.
Fuller has carried our teams attacking threat almost single handedly for 4 seasons now. The only thing that Slang is right on is that we needed some new forward players. More importantly than anything, we needed a decent partner for Ric, and in KJ we just so happen to have found one.
Ric now has the opportunity to play with better players. Better players who will ensure that the opposition cannot put 4 players on Ric.
Fuller is class and when Mr Pulis grows a set of bollocks and actually restores him to his rightful position in the team, he will continue to show us all just how good he really is. In fact, I would go as far as to say, that if Pulis does find his bollocks, then Ric will have his best ever season in a Stoke shirt.

I was wondering when this clown would arrive ;D Other than getting his head on the end of a Rory throw he offers little or no threat nowadays. He simply had to be dropped as he was making Mama look like Drogba. His shooting is absolutely laughable and embarrassing, granted he can turn a defender here or there, he might be turned into a decent winger, but he isn't a striker any more.

I don't quite get the sheep analogy, as I live in the Caribbean not the Valleys; that is, unless you are maintaining that I am following the flock in seeing Ricardo's good qualities. Sometimes the views of the majority, by the very fact they are the majority, should hold greater weight, particularly when such majority is 99.99% of Stoke supporters. It must get somewhat lonely out there on a limb all on your own?
