I am not disagreeing with a word you have said but....
I stand by every single word I said in my original post in that you took the piss and created a volatile atmosphere then put your self in a position of likely danger with an unjustified but historically expected outcome yet are shocked when it happens........
but if you want it in lay mans terms here goes.........
You were at Old Trafford not Bournemouth, the odds were stacked massively against you, there are certain grounds throughout the football league that you go to and you keep your colours hidden, your mouth shut and your head down, to list a few would be Millwall, Cardiff, Man untd, and Stoke City. In an ideal Utopian world no violence or crime would ever exist but unfortunately it does and this is where my comments about getting in the real world originate, if you are not savvy or streetwise enough to sense the atmosphere at a football game and realize what the after match consequences are likely to be then you are unfortunately going to experience this unwelcome type of behavior again on your journeys around the league.
I despise the fact that "shirt boys/Scarfers/Stoke fans" have been targeted in this way but unfortunately the writing was on the wall before a ball had been kicked and the outcome was virtually nailed on unless they would have over tuned the 1 point deficit to win the league.

I started to make my way out of the ground, after our players had clapped us - but I didn't actually manage to get out of the exit until after the 'lap of honor'. (Maybe Man utd should've done what SCFC do - go back into the changing room and allow time for the away fans to disperse - this would also of helped with the issues outside the ground) As I came out of the exit into the street, not singing of anything, there was a man and his two kids in front of me a lad about 5 and a girl about 8 both in colours and holding their dad's hands. A Manc (even had a manc accent) came upto the man and told him that he shouldn't bring his kids up to be so disrespectful - in not such polite terms. Three other Man Utd fans had to drag him away saying 'don't start on him, he's with his kids'.
Many Stoke fans like myself and the family in front, couldn't physically get out of the ground any sooner, (unless we'd left before the whistle) and were just quietly making our way to the coach park.

I'm very much inclined to agree with mozzer ... just what were people really expecting?
Old Trafford has always been a pretty intimidating place for away fans to get away from - just how many Citeh or Liverpool fans do you see displaying colours when they go there?
Given the fact that it was extremely likely that there were going to be 60,000 odd thousand very pissed off people around the ground after the game then it was almost inevitable that things would get a bit dodgy anyway.
However when you factor in that they royaly had the piss taken out of him with the Chelsea 'banter', then on leaving the ground the Stokies became just as hated as somebody from Liverpool or Citeh.
It's not right but that's the way it is ... I bet everybody who parked their car up before walking up to Old Trafford locked the doors, they shouldn't have to do so but in the real world unfortunately you do.

Like someone else on this thread has said, the Stoke 'lads' were in town in Wetherspoons, I doubt many even had tickets and Utd knew this so why kick off against a bunch of innocents?? Next season the blue touch paper has already been lit, can see many ex Stoke hoolies turning out for a bit of Manc slapping.

If it's true (and I've been sent a pic showing her giving evidence to the police) I really do hang my head. I can imagine the scene. "Yes officer, there was two of them, one was tall with ginger hair, and the other a bit fat and lazy looking, a bit mole like, James I think his name was, it took him ten minutes of hard rtunning to catch up with me, and I was going uphill as well..."

www.redcafe.net/f7/stoke-supporters-295550/I can see the next meeting being very interesting. I also read the thread from our game against them in Nov 2008. Some of the songs we sing are terrible. The one about Harry Roberts and where we show support for another team to upset Man Utd supporters is poor stuff. It just sounds like we're really scraping the barrel. [/quo what a bunch of tossers on there. So basically because you dont like what other fans are singing you can tat fans and threaten little kids? They really are a scummy set of lowlifes. This is the same supporters that sing about Hillsbrough and have shit like '96 not enough' on their shirts??? aids to the lot of em! Redcafe banner: "Green and Gold til the Club is Sold" (But I'm f*cked if I'll give up my season ticket - no Siree. Prats. Hats off to the proper Mancs who set up FC Utd of Manchester - that's what I call a protest.

What saddens me about this whole series of events is that the United fans seemed to pick on and attempt to intimidate small children along with the parents/guardians of those with the children. I hope we can not stoop to the level at which those supporters behaved to a good number of the travelling Stoke supporters on Sunday. Let United have the reputation of being bullies picking on children etc. Manchester City supporters have already picked up on this thread on blue moon and they do not appear to be surprised of United actions. I'm a Citeh fan who comes in peace. I can empathise with exactly what your fans went through having seen Utd and GMP at work this season. During the semi final of the CC at City they ran through whacking kids, women and left one 60 year old bloke needing medical attention. When they then came up against other City fans who were not hooligans but just angry at the liberties they were taking they quickly turned and were on their toes. Yet when we went to the swamp for the 2nd leg they were nowhere to be seen; except at the top fot he road pelting the coaches over the top of a line of GMP who seemed oblivious to what was happening right in front of their eyes. And then GMP have badly policed recent games at City, creating flashpoints and indiscriminately attacking City fans. There are clearly 2 sets of rules for Manure and any one else. But at the same time, I must state that I've witnesses and been subject to less than amicable behaviour at your ground...and no, i was not mouthing off. The worrying thing is that the violence seems to be rearing its ugly head again.... That said, I'm sure some Manure will get the full wrath of your revenge next season!!!!!!

Let's face it, neither of our clubs are fucking angels are we? I know it's a shame, but if I had kids and wanted to take them away to the likes of Old Trafford , they wouldn't be wearing colours either, I don't and haven't for years. Like I say it's sad, but unfortunately it's the way it is.

Nail on head son, Nail on head Agree some of our "newer" supporters need to learn the rules of self protection Learnt mine in the 70's and especially at the riot at Brum in 1992

I'm not saying it wasn't unexpected, I would just like to make the point that it wasn't a case of fans 'mouthing off' or staying behind to 'watch and taunt' throughout the lap of honor. 3 000 fans through 3 exits, takes time - and it took a good 10-15 minutes to get from my seat to outside.

Some good points made on this thread. One thing that really does piss me off. Depite the fact that the two Police who came to my aid were fine and did their job properly , why was there only 20% of the Police presence after the game as we left the ground than there was before the game to Police the anti Glazer demo? I'm not arguing with the fact that they laid on 100s of police for the demo - but the exiting Stoke fans surely desrved just as much protection after the game as all fans did during the demo/protest before the game?

Maybe I'm stuck in a 70's and 80's time warp but I've got to tell you I can't believe anyone seriously thought it would be ok to simply bowl out of the stadium in to the baying masses who we had wound up for the thick end of 2 hours and with our respective clubs "previous" in the violence stakes bedecked in a Stoke City shirt.

we are not exactly the best behaved supporters in the land are we?
although i can honestly say i have never seen kids abused and rarely seen shirts abused at the britt, we do have more than a phew hoolies and also shirts who are more than happy to wade in every now and again and slap a couple of away fans. stoke is an intimidating place for visiting fans as is cardiff and west ham.

Have to say i thought it was hilarious seeing the anger and bitterness on their faces after the game, sure we were way outnumbered.and i had the usual kick on the ankles (usual at the scum) and then took a side one on the chin but all the way through it had a HUGE smile on my face and they hated that even more,we wound em up proper and saw them at their mard arse worse.but hitting fathers with kids, out of order.

Volvic Stokie - "Walking down the road, about 200 Man United fans just all trying to kick it off on ONE bloke with a retro Stoke top on, we were all desperate to help him out, but the simple fact was, we would of been absolutely murdered, couldn't see any other Stoke fans around us at all, nor were any Police to be seen... Thank fully the Stokie didnt react and walked on, as did we - and he eventually got away from all of there knob heads. "
I think that was me !! top of Matt Busby way turning left ! I was so close to a beating - on my own in a retro top. Hundreds of them after me - I got grabbed by a Police Inspector who made me cover up my top and wait with him until I was safe. F*ckin madness. I was taking loads of verbal shit and then used my big mouth to shout carry on and you ll miss your f*ckin trainto London " - it was like a red rag to a bull then.
I was on my own - lost my mates and nearly paid with a right hiding. They are scum for this

Spells trouble next season Im afraid Its ironic that Man Ure fans claim there is no rivalry with Stoke, behave this way and now potentially re-create the sort of thing that was going on in the 70's when the rivalry was intense. They really are scum Dunna ever forget that these fuckers are scum end of, they are a bunch of cunts always have been always will be. The amount of trouble that follows these fuckers home and away is shocking yet they seem to get no media attention drawn to it. Gaurentee if it happened that we had kicked off on them at out place we would be up shit creek..

I've been driving to home and away games for 25 years and this season was the first time my car has ever been targeted by an opposition 'fan'. Yep, you've guessed it, Manchester fucking United at The Brit !!! A slashed tyre, pissed on and keyed down one side. Utter c**ts. Although I won't personally seek any form of retribution I wouldn't be too upset if their lives were made 'uncomfortable' at The Brit next season...

It was my husband that was unconscious on the floor after the match, he returned home 24 hours after the game with a broken nose and injury to the head. He has supported stoke all of his life and whilst i can tolerate the trouble after a football match i cannot tolerate that my 13 year old son went to the match with his dad, was witness to this vicious attack and then out of fear when he tried to run away the disgusting manc fan grabbed hold of my son and started to kick him. What grown up person can do this to a child??? I hope the man who did this can live with himself.
My son would like to thank the lady passerby that stopped to help him, my husband and their friends and stayed with him until the ambulance came. It just goes to show there are still some decent people out there.
What should have been a family day out turned into a nightmare!!!!

That is totally deplorable I hope your husband is recovering well and your son isn't too traumatised by the incident. My husband took our daughter who's 14th birthday was the day before the game, although she enjoyed it, and isn't readily upset by abuse (having sat for seasons in the boothen) she admitted she was frightened when they left due to the amount of abuse they recieved. All the best to you and your family hun and i would encourage and hope that you report this assault
