Sorry to hear about peoples troubles , we had a great day but I did notice in a lot of the pubs we went into a lot of Man U Hooligan types out and about.
Sometimes you need to go to realise why people dislike United so much, an afternoon with their fans soon makes you realize why.
They are ok whilst they are winning but get them when it doesnt go for them you get the true face of Man u support

Unfortunately, as disgusting as all of these attacks were, it gives many of our fans an idea of the sort of gauntlet that many away fans at the Brit have to endure as they try to make their get away at the end of a game. Even quite recently I saw a Bolton fan (in a shirt and wearing glasses) wiping the blood of his face after someone had taken a pop at him. I've also seen many other away fans (always wearing their colours - that's what gives them away) goaded and attacked up on Stanley Matthews Way. It's absolutely disgusting to hear all of these stories of Stokies being attacked, and what have you, but we can't deny we have a similar problem at Stoke.

The other worrying factor (besides the police attitude and the thought of a young lad being isolated with his dad(?) on the deck) - is that "shirt/scarf" fans are considered as targets.
I thought in the world of hooliganism, "scarfers" or anyone in colours was off-limits - it was the "casuals" in on-descript gear you had to watch for? Are we now seeing a return of mass hooliganism with no rules or boundaries?
Also - we live in a world where we're all media producers now - most of us have camera phones that can take a reasonable quality picture and video footage as well. So there should be no hiding place for aggressors be they in uniform or opposition colours these days.
I suspect Malcolm C will be busy again after reading this thread.
And finally - Are Man Yoo fans that sore losers? I went to the game at OT last season (0-5 loss) with my OAP dad and saw no mither. I parked my car surrounded by Utd fans on a pub car park and queued for ages in traffic to get homeward bound with no hassle at all. It sounds like a totally different atmosphere yesterday.

None of this surprises me at all. Football Holliganism have never gone away and will never go away. It only takes a group of 20 lads out of seventy thousand to cause mayhem as per yesterdays events. Whether it be at The Britannia, Old Trafford or even Burton's Pirelli Stadium.
When you're dealing with 70 odd thousand, bitter and twisted shit fans who have just lost the title twinned with the Greater Manchester Police-you're bound to have trouble.
The more it makes the news and is discussed on here the further potential for trouble next season both at The Brit and at Old Trafford.

Nutters are in a small minority at ALL clubs including ours. Having said that, I was shocked yesterday by the numbers of Man Utd fans coming out of the East stand who seemed really upset about the Chelsea chants they had heard. I joined in with the Chelsea chants yesterday - we all did - but at the Brit it never gets me uptight what the opposition chant - to be honest I couldn't give a toss what they chant - it just adds to the atmosphere. I really don't see why the Man Utd fans got so upset by our chanting - apart from the Munich stuff which went on in the concourse, it was the sort of thing you hear at most games where one group of fans has a reason to bait the other.

Once saw a Wolves fans sucker-punched, which saw him sent to the floor with smashed glasses. I often see away fans being goaded, with people right in their faces and I did see an Everton fan punched as he was just walking away quietly. As for that Bolton fan, he was certainly animated after he had been struck but I didn't see him do anything to bring it on. Mind you, had someone start on one of our group yesterday and had to warn him that he was going to be wearing a tray of curry and chips (I was hungry!) if he took one more step towards us.

Make him proper pay, innit” “Fuck that, he’s getting the curry and chips treatment”

I never wear my colours away ever. I never sing after leaving the stadium away ever. I put my head down and keep walking. What happened yesterday is no more shocking than what has happened at our place to some away fans. All football teams have scum following them unfortunately. H This is what I have been doing for the last fifteen years or so. Before that I did feel safer in colours but all that has been over for a good while.

H Have to say I follow similar rules whenever I go to away games. Doesn't justify what the manc cunts did though. Especially with the kids being involved. Cunts. Same here I wear my shirt but normally under a coat. and in the prem after what happened to me at Blackburn, Man city and Bolton the only place I felt safe after the game was Villa... Hope everyone is OK and there was allways going to be trouble yesterday..

I have still see it too many times at Stoke though and we don't have our reputation for nothing. Apparently it was 'kicking off' quite a bit in the city centre as well, and we walked past one big scuffle outside a Weatherspoons!!!

Hope Malcom gets on to this.
I was in the East Stand with the shit fans, and when i came outside there were united fans starting innocent stokies just for wearing colours, i saw a guy get shoved about then hit in the face, he tried to walk off and thr guy followed him, the stoke fans mate grabbed a copper and told her sort it out, but they turn a blind eye and just go for the stoke fans. its fucking disgusting. im 16 and have been going home and away since I was a kid, and thats the first time ive been genuinelly scared to leave. there was scuffles and items being thrown and united fans giving you the eye to see whether you were stoke or not, and having a pop if they presumed you were. needs sorting out.
