This is definitely a good thing. People travel away from Stoke to visit places like Nando's and Bella Italia so this will certainly help keep some money in the city and make the place more attractive to visitors. One of the reasons that outsiders often see Stoke as backwards is the lack of places like this that everywhere else has. Anything that can help modernise the shit hole that is Hanley and finally drag it into the 21st century has to be a good thing. Probably 15 years too late though.

I thought there was going to be a Nandos at the cinema, surely there's not going to be two? Yes two, for comparison Manchester has five. www.facebook.com/sentinelstaffs?fref=tsJudging by the comments it sounds like both will be pretty popular along with TGIs. If they attract people from Staffordshire and Cheshire that would otherwise go to Derby (go to Derby city centre at the weekend, it's rammed (no pun) with shoppers) then it's good for Hanley and the city as a whole.

Leisure complex due to open on land between Premier Inn and the Old Plough later this year Tennants are Nando’s, Bella Italia and TGI Friday’s with the latter two having no chains in Staffordshire. www.stokesentinel.co.uk/10-million-Hanley-leisure-development-set-create/story-25929858-detail/story.htmlWhile I'm really not excited about the prospect of yet another Nando's, it's great to see a piece of land that's been derelict for 15 years being regenerated, especially on a stretch which often forms visitor's first impressions of the city. Used to go to TGIFridays near (ish) Pompey when we lived down there, always enjoyed it, more so when the company were paying, obviously.

Yes two, for comparison Manchester has five. Blimey, it's not like they're miles away from each other either. They'll serve 2 different purposes. The Etruria one will be for people who specifically want to go to Nando's, will probably have free parking (if not there's free parking across the road in Octagon Park where Burger King and B&M are) and also sweep up some passing trade from Festival Park and Octagon Park. While the one in the Potteries deals with the passing trade from shoppers, cinema goers, people who don't drive so central Hanley is easier to get to on the bus etc. That's why these chains have so many outlets in what seem like a small place. They all target a different market. And is why they're so successful.

www.stokesentinel.co.uk/New-vision-Hanley-shopping-scheme-unveiled/story-25950203-detail/story.htmlA bit stupid considering Realis were the ones that killed that part of town with plans that never went ahead resulting in the bus station being relocated turning Tontine Street into the de facto high street... ...but anything that sees Burton Stores/Pig Pen razed to the ground can't be bad. Still, all these blocks are occupied by businesses where as there's a half empty precinct across the road that should be demolished. Before After

You will miss it when it's gone. The description on youtube done me.
"This guy had an argument with a radiator then told his coat to fuck off".
Still daylight outside the party is in full swing in the Pig Pen though.

Glad the Coach has survived. All along to destroy it in the name of regeneration would be to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Also a good architect could have incorporated it into any plans.

Every town should have a pub like The Pigpen, where a certain sort go? It's not only the Pig under threat but also Frankies(Just in time)? Clientele will not migrate to The Coach at £3-10 a pint? Why knock down successful businesses, to built unwanted, not very good looking units?
