....Its going to set a very dangerous precedent........
How many people sang "your gonna get F@@ked in the showers" to Gerrard?
What if Some anal from Staffs police considers this "Offensive"? They 'll be able trawl through the CCTV and quite a lot of people will be serving life time bans....
The Portsmouth/spurs song may well have been at the extreme end of chanting but who draws that line.......
Be warned people, after this conviction it just gives the police even more power to try and shaft you at football along with that section 27 rubbish.

This was the Chant that has landed them in court....
"Sol, Sol, wherever you may be, You’re on the verge of lunacy, And we don’t give a f*** if you’re hanging from a tree, You Judas c*** with HIV."
Pretty offensive but no racist remarks in that.

I think your fears are well founded. Rumours of what was chanted on the day vary enourmously and many chants we deem as fairly innocent could be deemed offensive or likely to cause a riot.
Conduct inside football stadiums is not above or beyond the law but some sensible allowances need to be made. I think they will still find it very hard to make some of the arrests made yesterday stick and it will be interesting to know what the Police do if Pompey fans tell Defoe and Redknapp exactly what a pair of c(_)nts they are tomorrow tonight.

Pretty offensive but no racist remarks in that. They've chanted that since the day he moved to Arsenal why did it become an arrestable offense in 2008? Probably the same reason why 50,000 people got offended by a radio broadcast they didn't hear.

It will be interesting to see whether a jury will convict if the cases are heard by a jury. Do we know yet whether these are likely to go to Magistrates Court or before a judge and jury?

Legal or otherwise - we can do without this sort of garbage being sung in football grounds
Way out of line and I hope that they get done - make some numpties think about the possible damage that they are doing
I believe that Cambell has suffered from mental problems and Gerard too to a degree
Football will be better off without this rubbish

Singing about a black man hanging from a tree is not racist now? Nobody knows the "Strange Fruit" song or its origins? No one seen that infamous photo of the lynching in Marion, Indiana?
Hmm.

i think there is a line to be drawn somewhere but this is a bit far fetched ....if we aren't careful we'll be back to clappin away teams goals and no atmosphere ...circa 1940's ...and those who want that can go old trafford, emirates or anfield

who's the bastard in the black....
sugesting the ref's mother isn't married would probably apply to 50% of the crowd
The Cambell chant was homophobic but what takes it over the line for me is willing someone who has mental problems to hang themselves
That chant is scraping the barrell and Spurs should make an effort with their fans to get rid
Surely as bad/worse than most racist chants?
