Don't shoot the messenger but I was at training this morning and talking about the dealings today (Dicko/Soares) and when this guy was mentioned, someone said he was having a medical at Blackburn today. Don't know who he was but someone said he was a scout. He doesn't even get a mention on the Blackburn message board. I wonder if this person got him mixed up with the other French defender who Rovers have signed on loan.

I hope that's the case, anyway, as I really want to see this guy play, for the novelty value as much as anything.

And the point of this signing would be what exactly?
Can't get a game in a poor French League. No experience of English football, let alone the Prem.
Think of this guy as a reserve at Blackpool and the attraction diminishes. He's not what we want. We want experienced Premiership players who have proved they can get their sleeves rolled up and help out in a relegation battle.

He has definately played quite a few games in reasonable good teams in France, but good players can also fall out with someone at a club.

We want experienced Premiership players who have proved they can get their sleeves rolled up and help out in a relegation battle. That's one way of looking at it. Alternatively, he's a fast former French U21 international who has been described as one of the best RBs in one of the top leagues in Europe last season, while he was at Le Mans. He reportedly attracted pretty serious interest from Porto, Seville, and Lazio, among others - before he ultimately went to Nancy who came 4th in the table, where he thought he would get regular football, expecting to take over from their RB, Chretien, who the club expected to definitely move on to a top European club for mega money. Personally, I haven't got a clue about how good he is. But, if Pulis really is willing to overcome his natural scepticism about foreign players with no English experience, he must have something going for him

You have a valid point there Luke, but it doesn't alter the fact that he has not played in the Prem and will be of no use in the battle of attrition that is going to relegate 3 teams. And TP signing someone from overseas - surely not.

He had a S.C.F.C tracksuit on but could have been anyone, remember I was told who he was supposed to be. Just a bit of info that MAY be relevent, my not be, just spreading the word

Looks like he's going to Blackburn.... www.sports.fr/cmc/scanner/football/200903/nancy-calve-prete-a-blackburn-_211495.htmlNancy: Calvé loaned to Blackburn? According to Canal +, Jean Calvé, the side defender of Nancy, could be lent to the club of Blackburn in the next hours. Transferred from Le Mans this summer, he did not succeed with s' to impose in Lorraine and wishes a change of air to profit of more time of play.

Finnan is a proper crock. He's played four times all season and TP would be mad to sign him imo.

As soon as I heard his move had fallen through I thought Pulis would be in there like a shot...
If he is fit he is an immense player...

Why would Newcastle bid, have an offer accepted, then withdraw?
Wages? Medical concerns?

His thigh is properly knackered isn't it? He's only played 4 games in a warm climate where You'd expect injuries to clear up quicker and he's the wrong side of 30. He could be awesome but he'd be a huge gamble.

Would be typical Pulis. Buy a nearly 33 year old for maybe £ 1.5 mill instead of a 25 year old foreign talent. I really had hoped for Calve.

Calve! Sounds perfect to me! Good age, good pedigree and a good price.
