This club is lucky we haven’t burnt the directors box to the ground.

The whole clubs embarrassing at the minute, fans heavily included in that. A following of 1,300 at Middlesbrough to watch that dirge is most certainly not embarrassing. majority were on the players backs from the first whistle, screaming, shouting, booing when we were trying to keep the ball a bit and build with the ball. Then when we did what the fans wanted (just booting it up the pitch) the fans cheered, then went back to booing as soon as we lost the ball again. That’s what happens when you just boot it up the pitch. Deluded fan base at times. Putting pressure on our own players

I understand how people feel after the wasted years since relegation . Bad decision after bad decision. I have made the long trips to the North East many times over the years and generally have come away on the wrong side of the result and I agree we should expect the players who represent the club to put out everything but at the end of the day they are human beings and for a variety of reasons people do behave with different levels of effort and success.
I agree with those who say the club is in a critical phase mainly through awful management and I dont mean the coaching side. All of the comments regarding our new Head Coach from respected professional like Muniesa and Bojan has been totally positive and I dont believe they would have been anything but honest in their opinion.
Lets hope we see a better performance Wednesday.

I fear for Wednesday night v Portsmouth. Another dire performance and the atmosphere could become toxic. At the last home game it is alleged that there were numerous arguments on the terraces. Personally I think I have now become immune and may not bother attending. Thompson and a fan near me had a few words at the end of the game.

I didn’t hear a single dissenting voice until the in own box nonsense and defensive side to side guff.

Perhaps when they outwork another tram they'll get the applause they deserve. In the meantime, they need telling that they are a huge part of the resdim the club is a basket case. Imagine clapping that yesterday. Do you thank your missus if she shits on a plate and says there's your tea? I'd applaud the improvement tbh.

Thompson and a fan near me had a few words at the end of the game. Did you hear what was said? I didn’t catch all of it, could’ve been aimed at Thompson personally or the team, but it ended with a less than polite description of the performance. Couldn’t tell what Thompson was saying but he definitely responded.

They've been shouted at all the way through grass roots football by their coaches. If they can't grasp the concept of doing shit properly and with maximum effort in order to not get booed in the first place then that's on them. We are bringing kids up now to only understand being told they are wonderful and tje next Messi bullshit. Life isn't wonderful, its a graft for all of us trying to make it in the world. They need to grow some bollox sort their shit out and come out fighting like dogs. Its pathetic all this ahh the poor players, please don't boo them or they'll be all upset. Best job on the planet they have. Start behaving like it.. And I've never booed a player in my life btw. But I fully understand why they are getting booed.

I didn’t notice Thompson speaking with a fan but it sounded clear that there was a fair number calling the performance wa*k and, I thought, calling some of the the players wa*kers, particularly near the front. It sounded pretty personal. It was my first, live match, this season (living in Yorkshire) but it did surprise me, the level of vitriol, 2 games into a new regime with a young team trying to adapt to a new style. I felt, particularly for Koumas, Sidibe, Moran, Cannon and Junho walking over to that.

I didn’t boo, but I didn’t give them a pity applause either. This one is all on Walters (but ultimately Coates, again) if it doesn’t improve sharpish.

I think we’ve finally reached a tipping point where the vast majority of people are finally tired of the years of incompetence, deflection, empty promises, disappointing football, abysmal home form, bad player recruitment, confusing decisions, rookie managers, rookie sporting directors, constant changes in style, constant changes in personnel and you can just keep going.
Only surprising thing is that it’s taken nearly a decade of the above to reach this point.
I’d never really boo anyone but I’m beyond caring when anyone else does, people pay a lot of money, invest a lot of time into this team and they’ve ultimately got a right to express themselves. I probably wish it was a little more directed at the real culprits.

I probably wish it was a little more directed at the real culprits. A decent post, some of the points made are certainly up for debate with friends/supporters over a quiet pint (but not straight after a game 😂😂) Your use of the term “tipping point” is bang on. Personally I believe booing adds to negativity and division amongst long suffering supporters (see some of the comments on this thread and others where the term “happy clapper” is quite come), also demoralising players who eventually go into a shell, being afraid to play to their optimum in case they make a mistake. Individual players being singled out for abuse. How to show your frustrations whilst seeking positive change is a dilemma, one I don’t have an answer for. My only analogy is boycotting a pub if the ale is awful and too expensive. Supporters have been encouraged to vote with their feet for years but even that potential solution (or part of a solution) tends to fail. The disappointing aspect of the “tipping point” and justified criticisms (footballing) is that all the work going on in respect of supporter engagement initiatives are being lost.

Happy clapping isn't going to solve anything.
Ambivalence is the next stage in the response and if crowds drop then so does income.
It's pretty simple really - if performances got better following the sacking then crowds would be onboard but if it continues to go backwards with questions around whether he ever had the dressing room to begin with will be a natural reaction. Booing is the least of our worries - it's like the head chef of the Titanic realising they're all out of lobster thermidor.

I think rather than booing, I think the best message we can send is simply not to go. I'd rather not use my Season Ticket than waste time and (more) money on these muppets personally; although I can more than understand people attending and booing. Only thing Coates cares about is money so hitting him in the pocket will force his hand sooner than booing IMHO.

That literally has to be the most stupid comment I have ever read on this board and that is saying something. If Mr Coates only cared about money he certainly wouldn't be the owner of a football club? Never mind freezing ticket prices for so long or offering free travel. You can criticise decision making but that is just ridiculous.

Unfortunately the income from attendance is very small in comparison to tv rights etc so will have little impact particularly as the season tickets have been paid for. The drop in attendance would change the atmosphere but only if it dropped really low. Sadly booing or singing things like " you don't know what you're doing" do have an impact. Unpleasant but effective.

You can make an argument that it’s a bit harsh for the fans to get angry after two games if you like, but pretending he wasn’t manager for the Hull game is a bit weird, given his grand rollout and the fact we all saw him directing things from the technical area.

Regretfully my appeal last week to stop booing our team failed and the players were accompanied by boos at the end of the Boro game. We have to stick with this new manager and players if we are to have any hope of moving forward and away from the annual foot of the table end of season farce. Lets be fair the manager has been in charge for two weeks and none of the players were signed or recommended by him. We try again on Wednesday and its another chance to try and give help to both players and manager, giving belief and perhaps confidence. Please do as I would request the players dig deep and give it your very best of support it will be a great help, and if we can finally get out of this dismal run who knows we may just see more positive results going forward. C'mon Stoke !!!! Sadly, I expect to be booing at the final whistle on Wednesday night too, we’re in real trouble this season!
