The modern game just isn't for everyone is it. Relax Rather than some snidey response you could have come back with some rational for it… Oh because it’s you. Passing to the goalkeeper in the middle of the goal with 2 defenders either side gives options. Firstly, if we were to go long, because the goalkeeper has the ball in the middle of the goal it leaves the opposition not knowing which side of the pitch he is going to go long so will affect their shape and keep the pitch as big as possible. If the keeper was to punt from the left of the 6 yard box for example it’s more than likely he will kick to the left of the pitch so players will flood that side of the pitch making it much smaller. Secondly, if when the keeper gets the ball the opposition don’t use the press, he has two options to build the play from the back. Thirdly, if the attackers were to press both defenders, or the keeper, this will leave space in the middle to be able to get the ball beyond the attackers into the middle of the park to our midfield and build from there. I am sure there are more reasons, but it’s all about small margins in todays game |
