I know it was only Carlisle but I was very impressed with Dixon at RB. For that reason alone I'd have him on the bench for when Tchamadeu is having a stinker.

He's 100% signed.
Just seen him having his pictures taken outside Clayton Wood (my lad is in the academy).

Looking at his highlights reel (yes I know) he looks like a rough diamond, but with plenty of great attributes. Most of his blocks and tackles come from great positioning and his Go Go Gadget long legs are annoying to play against as a striker. I hope he can be good or improve in the air, because its a weak area for us with our current short arse centre halve selection. We got promoted with Shawcross and Court who were both dominant in the air, both chipping in with lots of goals too, its a necessity in this league.

Not the experienced bruiser I’d have liked (Joe Worral) but hopefully he’s Shawcross mk 2.

Think they’ve already said neither Dixon or Anderson will be going on loan this season. Really weird signing I hope we’ve not had to pay much if anything in terms of a loan fee.

We needed another centre back so I'm happy with this one. Just a couple of strikers now and it would be a good window for us.

Think SS or JW literally said they *wouldnt* be signing permanents to block the youngsters pathways where possible. Suspect this is a move to cover/ manage across 2x slots and manage our own youngsters in without overloading them?

I think everyone is just desperate for a decent striker or two and rightly so imo. Everyone has their opinion but I think alot of the anxiety is because we have struggled to score goals and it is glaringly obvious we need a front man.

Only issues for me - Striker is a huge position and we can’t say it’s been a good window till we get one or two in. Hopefully that’ll happen as our current options are depressing. There’s no point in having great players elsewhere if we can’t score. - Still lots of dead wood. Particularly in CM and up front. That said of the signings made the only one that looks a dud is Gallagher and that’s not down to his ability but because of the expected injury picked up.

I think any long balls are going to be for Gibson to attack and Philips to sweep up anything which goes beyond on the cover. Crosses might be an issue but his height and positioning should be good enough for him to get something in the way. I’m also pleased to hear about people talking positively about his positioning, we’ve had a few defenders who’s dubious positioning and / or concentration has meant they’re using their pace and a last-ditch tackle to get themselves out of trouble. Zouma used to do my head in for that.

I don’t think Spurs would let him out to be a squad option and he seems highly regarded enough to be able to choose an option where he would play. What makes you think he wouldn’t be a starter, or just a hunch?

What makes you think he wouldn’t be a starter, or just a hunch? Just don't see a case for him to start. Don't see anything wrong with the pairing we've played in the first two games. I doubt very much we've signed him to start. He'll get some chances and have to really impress to change that imo. I really don't think we needed him at all.

I liked what Moran said the other day about how he wouldn't have come if he was guaranteed a start, he wants to be good enough to start and first of all he has to prove to the coaching staff but more importantly his new teammates that he should be in the team. You would hope that all our loanees would have the same expectations. The same goes for Dixon and Anderson. The best get picked. Of course the experienced players have a advantage but there will be opportunities for the younger ones and if they grab their chance then perhaps they will keep their place.
