I’ve no idea why we think we need this lad with Bosun , JT & Person already here plus burgur but with this level of change we can only travel in faith Because he can provide cover at right back as well. 25 games last year. Two yellow cards. Looks like an upgrade on Pearson in terms of versatility and discipline. Quite a transition to overcome from J league to Championship so hopefully people will give him time to adjust. And he has to learn another language. Even if he speaks English already he’s got to get familiar with scouse.

www.nytimes.com/athletic/live-blogs/transfer-deadline-day-live-updates-news/rhkpYWUICNRK/Stoke are finalising a deal with Kawasaki Frontale of Japan to sign midfielder Tatsuki Seko. The 26-year-old is due to complete his medical on deadline day prior to completing the transfer. The defensive midfielder has been a target of Stoke’s for a number of weeks but his arrival was contingent on other players leaving. The Championship club is in the process of selling Josh Laurent to Burnley, with the deal close to completion. While both Lewis Baker (Blackburn on loan) and Daniel Johnson (released by mutual consent) have also departed from the midfield on Thursday. Kawasaki Frontale describe Seko — who has played more than 130 games in Japan’s top division and featured in the Asia Champions League — as “a midfielder who creates rhythm with precise play” who was made vice captain of the team last season. He previously played for Yokohama FC prior to joining Kawasaki Frontale in 2022. This season — which runs from February to December — Seko has made 25 appearances, assisting three goals.

From the clips I've seen he looks an interesting player, hard to judge or determine what he is but he didn't look like a "6" to me.

“A midfielder who creates rhythm with precise play”.
You know for a fact he’s going to fall over the ball with his first touch after that.

A bloke that looked very much like him turned up at CW yesterday lunchtime with a suitcase. Very bizarre but with the news that is breaking now, and rumours of him staying at the Hilton I'm more inclined to believe it was him.

He's been doing his ventriloquist act for the last 3 weeks, failed to get through the preliminary auditions for BGT so decided to concentrate on football! 🤣

Where’s he actually play and what’s he actually bring to the team? Seems very much a squad filler to me.

Doesn't fill me with the greatest of confidence this one 😂 How painful are Stoke fans. FFS every signing we make is greeted with negativity. Every single one. From a goalkeeper who’s too small to a creative midfielder who’s too slight to probably Liverpools brightest talent who is only a squad filler. Jesus. It’s depressing.

Know absolutely nothing about him.
Will save my judgment until he gets on the pitch.

I do think people have the right to be a little unsure about this one...at a time when we have lost experienced midfielders and are replacing them with a lad who has limited game time in Japan at 26.

I've been intrigued with this one for a while, but also intrigued about the sudden burst of Championship clubs into the East Asian market. Obviously the ESC stuff has helped, but interesting all the same.
The profile of Seko, a 26 year old peripheral figure in the J League could be nothing short of a genius use of data recruitment.
For that alone I hope it works out.

Certainly the most intriguing signing of this window.
From the highlights shared he seems very much a Schumacher midfielder: technical, forward thinking and with a good engine.
As ever, the test for him will be how well he adapts to any difference in standard and physicality of the championship. We should be encouraged by how well other Japanese players have made that transition, though.

Endo at Liverpool is 31 and didn't come to Europe until he was 26 I think. Not saying he'll be that good but Japanese players seem to travel well and at 26 he'll hopefully be ready for the change. Defo an interesting one and wouldn't be surprised if he was either terrible and disappears completely or becomes a fan favourite.

No. The transfer team have stepped up and delivered some terrific signings in the last few weeks. At what point do they get some credit and faith from the miserables.
