Out of interest who are the other underwhelming transfers this summer. Sam Gallagher is hardly a rock the city signing. Neither are the likes of Koumas and Moran, but theyโre signs that we actually can find a hidden gem. So fingers crossed we can get some more in by tomorrow evening Rock the city signings have certainly done the job over the last few years Shall we just continue?

A bizarre link right from the off, although the Championship has seen a few clubs move into this market over the last 12 months which is curious in itself. Got to be money and budget related you'd think, with a bit of risk free attitude thrown into the mix.
If this one evaporates into thin air it will be one of the most bizarre transfer stories we've been involved with I'd say.

From the way Pete Smith has mentioned him over the last few days, got to think it'll happen if we can shift at least Laurent But it's a very weird one. To think someone who's started about half the games for a mid-table J-League team is going to be a massive step-up is certainly interesting thinking. Just hoping it's inspired if it materialises.

I donโt understand it from the players point of view. Presumably heโs doing no training and is just hanging on to see if we sign him?
If he doesnโt, then what? He goes back to Japan with his tail between his legs?!

Would be a really bad look signing yet another deep lying midfielder at this point. Maybe after some movement out and priority business in it might be seen in a better light. Do you really think the transfer team will stop a transfer because it doesn't look good? Seriously? I think youโre thinking along a very narrow what will fans think line. If you are in a job and you bring in far more resources than you need to it will not be looked kindly upon by any interested observer, by the person paying the bills, by the person evaluating you performance and you can expect criticism whether you care about it or not is another matter entirely. Itโs a similar scenario to asking for an expensive player then continuing to use a cheap one you had already instead of him. You see everything in the light of sporting merit and itโs just not the way everyone judges the actions of a recruitment team or anyone who is ordering in/requesting resources. If you donโt need it donโt ask for it, if you do request it expect to have to justify why you needed it and why itโs better than what you had before(productivity).

Yeah, although he only started just over half then too. It's so left-field, they must really think he's a worthwhile punt based on something they've seen. Probably cheap too 23-24 11 starts 14 sub appearances 1 on bench 22-23 18 starts 10 sub appearances 5 on bench 21-22 2 starts 11 sub appearances 3 on bench

I remember when Stein and Sheron signed for Stoke they were not the rock the city signings. They fitted into a system that got the best performance and results. Hidden gems are less expensive and hopefully fit into a system that benefits the team.

Give the lad a couple of games at least. Koumas/Moran ๐๐๐๐ still chuckling. Seriously ๐

Looking at the video of him he looks very direct and seems to want to turn and attack, maybe he just suits the style we want to play or maybe we have another position in mind for him. Not a lot to go off but he does seem attack minded so it looks like we are trying to get players in who could get the best of of our best players

I would presume that he has signed and they're waiting until full international clearance, work permit, etc is sorted. Due diligence will mean we wait until it's all done before announcing. I'd hope we have a view on who we would like to leave, who we realistically believe will leave and some options if things change last minute.

If he comes and is shit, but we manage to move Laurent, Baker and Johnson on then weโre net positive.
If we go with two in the middle playing deeper then we should be in pretty good shape with Burger, Lawal, Sidibe and Thompson so if this guy is just a fifth body Iโd probably take it and if heโs better than that then happy days.
