We've been waiting for this guy to "sort out his overseas transfer" for 9 days now. Very odd. www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-transfer-steven-schumacher-9503864it’s that big department in the middle that is still one to watch. What decisions are Stoke going to make in midfield? Who will come in? Who will go out? And what will be the make-up in the starting XI by the end of it? As it stands there is Jordan Thompson, Ben Pearson, Wouter Burger, Josh Laurent, Lewis Baker, Daniel Johnson, Andrew Moran, Sol Sidibe and Bosun Lawal on the squad list in Steven Schumacher’s office, but they might have to find room for Tatsuki Seko as well and Luke Cundle hasn’t gone anywhere from Wolves. Wonder if the hold up is our end? We're waiting to move a body on first?

I can see this falling through and him ending up at a plymouth or Oxford. No great loss, rather keep Laurent (want to sell him anyway) and Thompson and that’s saying something! Seko doesn’t sound good enough

Seko doesn’t sound good enough How many log ins has Bayern got 🙄 Doesn’t really improve us, people didn’t want Wintle and Wintle has more championship experience and has played more games than this guy. Should be about quality at this stage of the window not quantity, we have Sol too and signing Seko will block Sol’s development

I can see this falling through and him ending up at a plymouth or Oxford. That would be devastating. Not!

Fun fact: There are other foods in Japan apart from sushi.
(I've been on holiday and I know you've all missed me).

Not involved in their squad again. Their fans don't seem to know where he is either.

is this happening or not , strange how it’s dragging on with no real proof Didn't someone from the club say last week that we had a verbal agreement with him but there were more pressing matters to deal with? Sounds to me like a player who would like to come and would be cheap but we are waiting to see how it pans out for the rest of the window. My guess is that we have a verbal agreement on wages and contract should he join but won't be bothered if he finds another club.

That was Frazer, after his name had been doing the rounds for about a week, so pinch of salt required! It's about 2 weeks since his club announced he'd "left to sort out a move to an overseas club"- which the Japanese press uniformly said was Stoke. And he has been left out of their matchday squads for the last 2 weekends, and they've bought a player widely seen as his replacement. Since then, there's been nothing even semi-official in Japan or England, apart from the Sentinel basically confirming there was something in it, but not really explaining the delay.

Would be a really bad look signing yet another deep lying midfielder at this point. Maybe after some movement out and priority business in it might be seen in a better light.

I’d never heard of this guy until a week ago and I’ve never seen him play.
But I can guarantee he’ll be better than Thompson or Laurent.
Get him in.

It just seems to be another underwhelming signing.
26 years old, so realistically is not going to develop either physically or technically an awful lot more and never played outside Japan in a league that is completely different (far less physical) to ours and arguably of lower quality. Add to that he's not even an automatic starter for a side towards the bottom of that division.
Then you have the logistical issues such as will be able to adapt to our culture? Or can he speak/understand English? I can understand us taking the gamble when it's a young player who has the potential to develop (such as Bae, who has shown glimpses but will need to develop more physically and with his decision making in and around the box), but to go all out for someone with a very Average track record with minimal sell on value just doesn't make much sense, and doesn't fill me with much excitement or any realistic expectations that he will be an upgrade, or even at a similar level to what we already have, even though what we have in midfield at the moment is bang average at very best.
Move on, save the Arseache and Air-Fare Stoke, and go balls out for someone who can offer some physicality, pace and power through the middle.

Neither are the likes of Koumas and Moran, but they’re signs that we actually can find a hidden gem. So fingers crossed we can get some more in by tomorrow evening

Do you really think the transfer team will stop a transfer because it doesn't look good? Seriously?
