At least let him play a competitive game for us. Embarrassing. Why will he look bigger in them?? Again he's 6ft 1 How tall do you need to be? Is 6ft 1 now too small?

We've got what we've got now we'll have to see how it goes. He's hardly getting dogs abuse.

Just pointing out that there have very good if not world class goalkeepers who are shorter than our current number one.

A high line with two slow central defenders is crazy, but even worse when our two fullbacks both are out of position too! I would at least tell the two fullbacks that one of them had to stay back in position when the other went forward to have some defensive balance. I've never played at a high level myself, but still I have played under the best "manager" in Norway. He alway was a 4 3 3 man and played this system with Rosenborg during all his years there where they won everything numerous times in Norwegian football. He also had reasonable success in Europe beating clubs like Dortumund, Real Madrid, AC Milan etc. He always told one of the fullbacks to sit back, at least in tight games. We haven't played any tight games or games of any importance yet. Certainly last season Hoever got up the pitch a lot more than Stevens when we were playing well at the end of the season. You certainly can't let them off the leash on both sides with only one deeplying midfielder. Especially with no pace among the central defender!

A few inches doesn’t make that much difference in my opinion, others may disagree ofc…

Get used to it. SS seems to have settled on squeezing teams by playing a high line. Was a disaster today. I'm old-school, and prefer my centre-halves & goalkeepers to be big lads. There's an old saying, that:- 'a good big'un, is better than a good little'un'. Still true today.

Casillas was one of the best keepers in the world, it's not that long ago either It makes no difference in terms of personal taste. I'm sure we've been through this before eg Kante is a wonderful player but I prefer a bigger DM who would be comfortable at CB Declan Rice Eric Dier type. Doesn't mean I think they're better than Kante but they're what I prefer. I prefer a big CF too doesn't mean there haven't been some wonderful smaller ones.

I don't get what the complaining is about tbh, he's been fine, one misjudged ball and a good finish, yes he's off his line further than you'd ideally like but I'm guessing that's down to the high line and we're asking him to tidy up whenever the ball goes over the top.

That's why the likes of Messi and Steino had poor careers if only they'd been taller.

I don't think Stein in goal would have worked to be fair 🤨 The greatest player of all time was 5 ft 5 odd but some criticising VJ when he's not not been at fault at all. Saturdays goal was just a brilliant finish . We saw Schmeichel concede similar more than once , that tiny fella

Kaspar Schmeichel is only 6 feet two. I don’t think too many people would have moaned with him as a keeper.

Viktor deserves a mention.
Didn’t have too much to do but thought he commanded his area very well. Looks comfortable with the ball at his feet.
And went fucking mental when we scored.
Really promising competitive debut.

Also comfortably caught a crossed ball rather than the usual flapping we’ve become accustomed to.
Great signing

He’s the best keeper we’ve had for a while! Loved his celebration for the goal and also how he ran over and bollocked the linesman for missing that goal kick. What a bloke!

Can’t we make our goals discreetly height adjustable.
So at half time one goal slowly sinks an inch or two. Very slowly. Nobody would know.
Though knowing Stoke we’d do the wrong goal.

I also loved how he was constantly giving the defenders a pat on the back or fist bump when they made a good challenge etc and also got frustrated when he wanted to play a quick ball out to get us on the attack but no one was there to receive it.
Could become a bit of a hero
