The training ground and stadium being put back into club ownership is the interesting part. Yeah on the surface that’s really good news.

Is this Denise severing all ties? It's common knowledge she has no love for the club and begged her dad not to return after the Birmingham trouble. I'll keep my theories to myself for now, but this is potentially one of the most exciting things to happen to the club this summer IMO. You bloody tease

How are we suddenly debt free? Good news either way. We have fabulous owners IMHO. Certainly can’t fault their commitment or desire to help the club however they can.

If someone could post any interesting bits of this that might pop up for those that can't listen would be really appreciated 👍 It was mentioned that other companies might want to invest in Bet365 but Bet365 owning a football club could perhaps be a stumbling block.

The only reason I’m on this thread is because I’m waiting for BC man to arrive in total peace and bring us good tidings on this news.
He’s great.

Kieran Maguire basically saying it's just tidying up from the Coates and Bet365.
Likened it to a Dad loaning a son 20k for a car when he passes his test, knowing full well he's never going to pay him back and although it's a loan it's not really and gets written off.
Doesn't effect FFP.

I guess only time will tell if we can exploit any FFP loopholes. It would be hilarious to see the reaction if we bid £20m for a striker this afternoon

We could probably have dropped £20M without sanction. The following two seasons would have been pretty painful mind.

Would this make us a better proposition to a buyer? That was my immediate thought.....

Would this make us a better proposition to a buyer? That was my immediate thought..... Pesimist in me thought the same too - plumping us it for a potential sale. However, with being local supports would be surprised and the idea of it to avoid what's coming down the track with betting regulation seems a bit of a boring reason that leaves the question 'but why the rush?' The optimist in me wonders if this adds a few extra inches to the owd transfer dong and we're not wanting to broadcast it. If we own the ground and training complex with their now being no debt too presumably we're in a position to go balls deep.

If an attractive offer came in though it would be far easier to do a deal I would imagine..... Dunno about the ease of the deal, it would make it far easier to attract the attractive offer in the first place though. Removing having to negotiate the debt and adding a shit load of fixed assets to the value of the club.

This is purely a paper exercise at the behest of Denise, a woman who turned Peter Coates' initial business into a fabulous company worth billions. We're all amateurs at this sort of stuff and I reckon it will be good for the club in the long term.

Going forward not sure - but standing and looking in the direction of the Bristol area, and watching a certain sad act fume as he realises that Bet365 have paid 80M for a stadium and just handed it back to the club for free will be priceless. didn’t the Madrid council once buy Real’s training site for 250mil the sell back to them for a pound , or is that an urban myth ?? Which of the 5 times?

Does this mean we can loosen the purse strings a bit or it has no effect on FFP? Fed up of buying and being linked with no mark footballers with little potential.

Listening to Maguire about it making it more attractive proposition to investors sounds interesting
I wonder if the family are thinking of moving away from BET365, if they wanted investment or even potentially to sell up - having a loss making assest such as Stoke City on the books would not be helpful in any negotiations. Plus if they did sell up, the new owner would want the debt back off the club and own the ground so would that send us under?
Saying that, i'm probably putting 2 and 2 together and ending up with 365....

The training ground and stadium being put back into club ownership is the interesting part. yeah , how’s this effect ffp ? Not a lot I wouldn't have thought. All loans were interest free I think and FFP is just based on losses made on the team (purchase of players, wages, bonuses etc) cumatively over three years?

So no Bet 365 shirts ? No Bet365 on players shirts ? No gigantic mural at front ? No Bet365 roadwork signs ? They're still paying to sponsor us currently From a dispassionate point of view, Bet365 being associated with a club that has been so shit for 8 years isn't a good look for them.

There are 2 things we can be confident of - 1. It will have been done with the best interests of the football club at heart. 2. The Coates’ financial people will be ahead of the game as they always are.
(My guess is this new football regulator thing is going to start throwing its weight around with regard gambling involvement in the sport big style - easy target for them)

I think the most important thing from all of this is we might have to retire this photo..if John is now fully at the helm...

We made over £100M profit that season only a probably small proportion of which would have been FFP allowable but given the previous two years accounts it couldn’t have been masking a big FFP loss either as that would have led to us being sanctioned and being embargoed and having business plans imposed etc etc.

Keyboards literally vapourising into thin air as emails are 'thrashed' off to the EFL. As a side note - now that ownership has changed, does that make the club ringfenced from previous FFP sanctions if they occurred under a technically different owner? Surely it's not that easy, else everyone would be doing it every summer! Most owners wouldn't just hand over to the club, they'd sell it back and they'd want the debts paid off.

Boom ! ! As I said completely different club by September
I'm amazed people didn't spot the slip in SJW end of season interview when he refered to the owner !
This is great news for our future

I think the most important thing from all of this is we might have to retire this photo..if John is now fully at the helm... Only simpletons have been under the impression that picture in any way represents anything other than the past for a number of years. Good thing is John’s dong is bigger and he’s probably only equally hopeless at running a football club. We’ve been threatened by the third tier but not actually been there on his watch(twice).

If so what will it be called?
