Defensively astute when he very nearly had his pocket picked when dawdling on the ball as our last man with five minutes to go?

I thought apart from that he had a decent game today but I’m not convinced he’s quite ready to be a Championship first choice yet, whereas towards the end of last season Hoever was consistently one of our best players.

He didn't though did he , composed himself and came away with the ball. He rarely makes mistakes and for me that's what I want from a defender . Hoever did play well in patches towards the end of the season but was not consistent enough at the start. If Junior was fit he'd have been first choice and I doubt hoever would have had much game time

I think we have to develop him and if it goes right we will have a good player on our hands.

I think he got lucky to be honest. Another day that could have broken differently and cost us the game. But in the interest of fairness I do have to admit that Hoever also had the occasional clanger in him, including the one that fittingly enough cost us the game at home to Coventry last season.

I think technically hoever is the better player and going forward is much better than junior.

However I thought today defensively junior was a solid wall and barely let anything through him. Needs to work on his technical ability a bit more but tbh at will come with experience. The cross he played to tezgel first half should have resulted in a goal if it wasn’t for their keeper

Yeah I agree with that. I think he’ll come good for us and I’m looking forward to seeing him develop in a Stoke shirt.

What I don’t agree with is the people claiming he’s currently better than Hoever.

Strange how people see a player in a different light to someone else. I thought Junior today was our weak link, he is not aware of who or what is around him and switches off. Young and open to no end of improvement I admit but right now Hoever knocks him in fits as a full back.

Going on his performances at the start of last season I'd say yes I would as did the manager,now I'm unsure where they are both at performance wise. But I'm sure if the manager wanted hoever that badly he wouldn't have been having a medical at sheff UTD , that's not to say I wouldn't take him on loan if the deal was right.

Junior played well today.

But at times his lack of awareness makes Hoever look like prime Phillip Lahm.

His brain freeze in the last ten minutes was scary. Hoever is defensively frail but he’s not in that league.

I think Junior with Hoever would be a nice competitive battle for right back. And both capable of stepping in further upfield.

I guess if Chopper is right and Hoever is in his way back, the manager’s ranking will quickly become clear. I personally doubt we are signing Hoever as back up
