Let’s see where we are the close of the transfer window. Recruiting for character and building a solid spine is where we are - it’s the sprinkling of talented player(s) (possibly young and on loan) to add to what we have will probably make or break our season but that is likely to come later in the window? Fingers crossed. A sensible post at last! There are weeks left in the window. You don't just get your priority signings in and then fill around them; that would be great if feasible. Getting your priority positions filled doesn't happen in an organised, timely, and easy manner. Also, if a deal comes up and it's a 2nd or 3rd choice, do you hold off and risk losing out, or do you buy? Throw in all the lunacy of transfers, medicals, last minute hijacking of deals and ta-da! the plan is out the window. Trust the process. And if they arse it up, then have a whinge😉🤣 Feel closer than ever to the whinge, hope we pull our fingers out in the next 3 weeks

With lack of actual football all we have is a moanathon about everything. Starts with kits being too late, then the kits are shit, then the keeper kits are late, then too expensive for hard working parents, then Wigan will sign a player and people get sand in their fannies about us not doing anything, then we sign someone and they are shit. The odd gripe about season ticket renewals. Then season cards haven't been delivered. Then too many foreigners or not enough foreigners. This season we've the added bonus of people moving seats, safe standing, footpath relocation, new fangled fanzine, just to spice it up a bit. I'm sure all clubs are the same and every day I vow not to waste my life on here. And every day I log back on.

We get no business done this week and then beat Coventry on Saturday and everyone will be saying we don't need sign anyone, we're as fickle as they come.

I think a brief interview with him where he can trot out the usual cliches about how we're working hard to secure our targets and allow the supporters to put a voice and a personality to the face is probably needed right now......

Despite being at Hull for years, he seemed invisible in the media there. Very much seems to be a background operator who likes to stay away from the microphones, the opposite of Jared.

Surely anyone who said such a thing would have to be clinically insane.

It was reported that if deals got released too early in the media that he may back out of doing business, but Sam Gallagher transfer seemed to role on for ages. It’s that lengthy bit of time that suggests Leris sale may be happening.

Cinderella, she seems so easy "It takes one to know one," she smiles, and puts her hands in her back pocket, Bette Davis style And in comes Romeo, he's moaning, "You belong to me, I believe" And someone says, "You're in the wrong place, my friend, You'd better leave" And the only sound that's left, after the ambulances go Is Cinderella sweeping up on Desolation Row
That song is perfect, Dylan at his very best.

I love that song, it's a thing of aching beauty, takes hold of you and doesn't let go!

Early signs are he is a downgrade on well-groomed, slick Jared who at least found us the likes of Junho and Burger. Looks like we are back to mostly shopping in the Championship/L1.
It's too early to say for sure now and we need to review after the window closes.

He needs to improve a vast amount on what he's done so far. Has he done anything? Bocat was a Dublin target. Johansson was one of the most coveted keepers in the league and had been tracked by our GK coach for over a year. Ben Gibson & Gallagher are proper championship fodder that anybody could've found.

On the basis of the fact we have signed no-one that actually improves the squad since this chap left, I post a photo to remind everyone of the fact, this chap has signed the three/four most exciting players since we were relegated. Now we are back to signing wardrobes and cloggers.

At what point does the responsibility for signings shift from the Head of Recruitment to others though? With Dublin it was clear that his remit was simply to identify players that could be useful signings. The actual negotiation of transfers was not something he got involved with. Is that the case for Darnbrough too? And if so, isn’t whether they come off irrelevant?

Don’t know I was hoping for that sort of thing to come out in the forum but imo it was quite low on detail (for Anoraks) and pitched towards people who are heavily swayed by personality.

You might aswell close this thread and any thread relating to Jared Dublin. According to Walters at the fans forum, when he stopped talking about stroking cats, he said it was more down to the scouts so either of these characters are quite irrelevant it seems.
Of course my bullshit radar was going off in the red zone but that's another story entirely...

I'm sure I saw stuff RE Burger/Bae where they referenced Dublin a lot during the phases where they needed convincing to join.

It does seem like player identification is a non-issue if we’re looking at the domestic market as players based in England are surely all on our radar already, so it would make sense for the HoR to take an active role in negotiations.
