Underwhelmed would be overstating it. We need a striker that actually scores fairly frequently. I would like to understand the thinking of the transfer team on this one, because I'm buggered if I can see the logic. Hope I'm wrong, if it's a done deal. Blackburn must be p*ssing themselves to do us with this fee and getting money off us for Ennis as well.

It doesn't matter what they think. Just because it didn't work for him there doesn't mean it won't here. I don't know if it will, but we will find out. There is thousands of examples in football even at the very highest level of players not being brilliant at one club before moving and them finding huge success. That on it's own is enough to just give someone a chance Of course it matters, they’ve watched him the most. So? We all watched N'Zonzi and there was still a large number who thought he was useless. Even just for us in terms of players suddenly performing...Thorne, Stein and Sheron. Never prolific for anyone else. Signed for us and it changed. Fuller wasn't rated really then he signed for us..Bremen fans didn't really like Arnautovic. That is only an extremely small group of examples

I’m actually happy with Gallagher.
He is unbelievably selfless up top and could be a good foil for those sat in behind him.
It would be great to get an out and out finisher to partner him up top.

But it could also turn out he performs well for us. I genuinely have no idea how it will go. I just never see the point of people writing someone off without giving them a chance. People seem to get a real kick out of it.

£1.5m looks very different depending on how that is broken down. Goals bonuses, promotion bonuses, etc. all make things much more palatable.
It’s not the most exciting of signings, but perhaps notable that he’s played alongside two of the top scorers in recent seasons in Szmodics and Brerton-Diaz. Hopefully can facilitate Bae, Manhoef or a CAM (Mmaee?) similarly. Or even better, get into double figures himself!

I just can’t see a formation where he fits into the way Schumacher wants to play. Not saying he’s shit but seems an odd type to go for I guess he gives us options. I doubt he’ll be our number one target and let’s face it we only have 2 senior strikers at the club at the moment one of who’s injured and the other has a lot to prove. I’ve seen Gallagher play a fair few times and he’s always impressed me.

It’s a hefty sum for a bloke who doesn’t break into double figures!

If he is the main striker then he has to score, imo, a minimum of 10 league goals
If he's not the main striker then whoever that is has to
that's not being particularly greedy is it?

Well he doesn’t appear to solve one of our main problems, which is scoring goals and taking chances. I suppose we will have to wait and see but if that’s it on the striker front, it’s very underwhelming.

If Gallagher is going to be our main striker, the rest of the players better have goals in them this season,if we want to progress.

Yep, whenever I've seen him he caused us a few issues and I've thought we needed someone like that in the squad; That was before we supposedly had better players that we have now, but hopefully it will be the same impact.

Every Ric needed a Mama every Stein needed a Regis. Stein could do it without Big Dave no worries we don't play two up top (or even 1 20 yards behind like Mamma was made to) Gallagher is going to have to be awesome at getting Bae & Million into goals scoring situations if he's only going to get something like 5 to 8 goals as his record so far suggests Hopefully he's just one of two strikers that we are signing as has been suggested otherwise it's only fair that supporters are underwhelmed

Great news. Decent price for someone who can play on the left.
If this Ecuadorian lad joins and we have him, Bae and Burger in the middle with Million on the right, we’ll do some damage.

22 Assist in his whole championship career would say he's more ineffective at setting his team mates up. Unless of course your suggesting he deserves credit because he was simply on the pitch whilst his teammates scored is simply ridiculous No not at all…it was a genuine question, not as good as I’d have thought. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and support him and hope he does the business for us👍🏻🔴⚪️ Me too mate, Although he might not of been my 1st, or 20th choice, I'll still get behind him every week in the hope I'm proven wrong, all Stoke aren't we

Three of the top four goal scorers last season were attacking midfielders/ wingers - Manhoef has 15+ in him I reckon but not sure Bae is that way wired so would need Burger and another CAM chipping in. Think we'll score more than last season's 49 but 80 seems to be where you need be for the playoffs so a lot to do!

Over the last 5 season, Gallaghers mail strike partners at Blackburn have scored over a hundred Championship goals in total. Do we play with 2 strikers?.. Blackburn haven't. Armstrong scored 28 goals with Gallagher and Brereton either side of him. Brereton score 20+ with Gallagher and someone else playing in a 3. Last season Szmodics scored 25+ playing as a 10 with Dolan, behind Gally.

I don't really care. I will still enjoy the escapism that is Stoke City regardless of who we sign and how we play. Winning is obviously better than losing but after a loss you can still have a good 'ol rant in the pub, kick the cat when you get home (or the wife/husband, if that's your thing!). Gallagher will have my full support, as will Leris and any other journeyman plodders. I trust in the process and don't fret too much about what the upcoming season holds. It will be good, bad or average. I have my opinions and I will vent them through the season but 2hrs after the game I like to think I am calm and mindful... unless we've been done over by a shite ref! No idea how good Gallagher is. I suppose I will find out in a few week's time.
