Has overseen a disaster of a window. Everyone we needed to move on still here. The signings that have come in are mainly still in full time eduction with a midget in goal. If this bunch get in a hole there is no hope. So far it looks like we've employed a bloke with poxy experience at Fleetwood and FAI. Legend he may be, but fuck off. Bar a striker we've signed players in every position we needed to... Maybe but are they good enough & strong enough?….I guess we’ll soon find out.

As I said, the players we've signed are mainly still in full time eduction and/or midgets. Man United have signed several players and spent plenty of money over the last 10 years, does that make theirs an automatic success?

Being young is a strange complaint given its exactly what we should be doing for the most part, we're in a position where sell on is an important part of any permanent signing.

When the dust has settled after the window closes and barring further injuries we have the availability of a full squad (possibly end October) I wonder if there will be some healthy portions of humble pie being consumed or will there still be an opportunity for some to question SJW and Lee Darnsbrough’s ability to improve the club and its fortunes.
Time will tell.
I’m going improvement

Doing a decent job. Was never going to change things overnight.
Can see a plan/direction where he wants to take the club and backing the manager with those plans.

Good window IMO, filled the gaps we needed to and cleared the decks somewhat
Only questionable one is Gallagher due to his fitness record, but if he can get and stay fit he coukd be an asset
Down to Schu now to get a tune out of them

8/10. Went for an ambitious striker target and got him. Signed exciting young players in other areas. Moved expensive under performing players out. I’d have liked a bit more permanent business but that would be a tiny grumble. Hopefully we can score more and be a better watch than for the majority of last season. That’s all I ask for basically a challenge at the right end of the table would just be a bonus.

Hopefully with these new signings,we win more than we lose, have a plus GD. Even flirting with the playoffs to give us an exiting season.

Best decision Coates family have made for a long time. His appointment fills me with hope, something I have not had for ages.
If it/he fails then we can't knock them for making this appointment. Most of us have been banging on about bringing in a pure footballing man and letting him pull most of the strings, so they have done what we asked for.
We seem to have a decent mentality building, 3 players that could possibly get 10+ goals, some hungry youth players coming through. I have said in other threads disappointed with defensive recruitment, but I don't think it was for lack of trying on the clubs part and better than in previous years.
The opinions on this thread will change like the wind depending on whether we win or lose, nobody knows how it is going to pan out, some worrying performance against Watford and Albion, but some very encouraging performances in other games. 6pts down 44pts to go, but I have a bit of hope that it won't be a never ending battle to get to that 50pt mark this year and hoping we can comfortably reach the 60pt mark and get closer to mid table - all will depend on injuries, particularly in defence and how we recruit in the January window - and I also think we might get a bit of entertainment this year, some 4-3 wins and some 4-3 loses - here's hoping anyway

Recruitment as we all know is at the root of our last 7 or 8 years fall from grace . It’s not only buying Berahino Jese and a whole list of other down bears ( Ince Afobe McClean etc ) but it’s that we can’t sell anyone for decent money . That’s the double whammy of it all . This strategy (Gayle etc ) has singularity failed . Dramatically. It’s seen us close to FFP points deduction . The strategy now is a clever one . By investing in youth it has so many upsides. The payroll cost is significantly lower . It means we are not in an FFP straitjacket. We have for the first time in a decade players with true sell on value . Clubs have taken us for a ride . No longer . Burger Junho Manhoef biocat and a few others . We still have the likes of Pearson though . The loans are quality. Again young players wanting to showcase their talent. My only reservation is we’ve bought players with injuries ( Gallagher Lawal and to a degree Cannkn ) and if those Gallagher strikes me as a poor buy . That’s only on the basis of his injury record and a 3 year contract. Lawal a four year contract despite knowing of his stress fracture. Let’s hope they come good . We have now a squad of 24/25 players with few that are likely to be troublesome. ( Vidigal ? ) So the likes of Baker Laurent Johnson shipped out . So SJW has done a really good job though the lurch to youth would seem to me to be an SS driven plan . Off the field Simon King has done wonders . A top bloke and whether we can keep him is my only concern. I think there is a team at the top now that like each other . The dour AN and the Mumbai jumbo of Martin replaced by SJW and SS . We will have some bumps in the road that come with youth but the promise of attacking football where we don’t worry too much about the opposition has to be the way forward . SS can be an overthinker so there will be times we scratch our heads . But the platform has been laid . The groundwork done . The miscreants moved on ( including Mmaee) . The usual optimism that comes with a new season has a good chance of delivering. It’s now up to us to sing and support . Meanwhile it’s 2 o’clock and I must get some sleep. I usually do so by not counting sheep but say name 20 players beginning with G . Then I drop off . lol

Reading back on this thread there are a few people who should be eating humble pie 🤣 I’ve come full cirtle from seeing the squad available to us going into the AZ Alkmaar game, to end of the transfer window. They’ve done one hell of a job, and the biggest part of that is moving players on who don’t want to be here. I couldn’t really give a toss if we go up or not, I just want to see us looking well coached and having a go at teams by making the most of what we have rather than setting up to nullify our opposition.

Reading back on this thread there are a few people who should be eating humble pie 🤣 There was nothing wrong with criticising the squad of players Schumacher had to start the season with. I thought Schumacher did well to get the points he did under very testing circumstances. On the face of it though it looks like Walters turned it around in the end and we have signed players who will get better over the season, they may start well but we shouldn't expect too much just yet, games and experience will improve us

Players who didn’t want to be at the club have been moved on. Couldn’t be clearer for me. Bravo. Yep, we can’t underestimate just what an impact Campbell, Laurent, Mmaee, Baker and Johnson have had in the team. Slow paced, lacking heart and enthusiasm, they have set the battle rhythm for play which has been slow and lethargic. The new group have energy and interest….really looking forward now. There will be lows of course, but feels like momentum could be about to build.

The window was a bit nervy but ended up being the best one we’ve. had in years IMO. I love the emphasis on young hungry players he also seems to genuinly care about the club which some of the previous incumbents don’t. 9/10
