Nobody has more goal contributions this season than our right back (4 goals and 3 assists).
That's 8 goals for the club in just a season and a half, from full back. Has anybody scored more for us during that time?
He needs to work on parts of his game, and at 22 he will surely only improve. How much do we think it'll take to make the move permanent?

I don't know but I wouldn't sign him as a first choice, good player but we need better defensively to get to where we ultimately want to be.

I don't know but I wouldn't sign him as a first choice, good player but we need better defensively to get to where we ultimately want to be. He gives us so much going forward. The modern full back has to have that in his locker, and he has it in abundance. Before his goal today he was unlucky not to score another when he hit the bar. We've got a right back who is more likely to score than most of our midfielders and forwards. That's the reality of it. I'd be reluctant to let that go.

He scores at the beginning and the end of the season. Goes missing for 30+ games when it’s cold.
No thanks.

If you have a solid defence & midfield then I think he’d be a real asset, just sometimes his flaws are really exposed when we are open at the back.

Where does that leave Junior? He’s not going to play second fiddle. Gooch back up for Junior and I’d keep Ends Stevens for a season as back up to a new starting left back. Hoever would be too expensive to buy given what he’s gone for in the past.

My wildly unpopular opinion about our team this season is that Hoever is one of our best players. He is definitely a below average defender, but so are all the others. And he has the speed to recover after a mistake which has actually saved us a few times. Plus he can actually get his head to the ball unlike Gooch. Going forward only Junho is more of a threat from open play, and Hoever is a better finisher than him and all of our forwards.
For me, one of our best players. Granted this is on a team that is finishing in the bottom third of the Championship, but better than most in our squad.

I think he has improved defensively. His positional play is better and there have been fewer lapses in concentration. With good coaching I think he can continue to progress. For next season with him and Tchamedue we could have decent cover/competition at right back.

He is actually a class full-back for this division. Has a few brain farts and lack of concentration and positioning - but more than makes up with it with his talent.
Not sure if the financials can be worked out, but hes one players I hope we have next season.

This- we have far more of a need for at least two Centre backs and a left back, before we point fingers at Hoever. We do have sufficient cover with a fit Tchamadeu and Gooch for right back but to make out that Hoever is the weak link in a defense that featured Mcinally , Rose and Willmot on a regular basis ( plus no left back) is harsh. Agreed we have more pressing areas to spend money on, but no way has he been the worst defender we’ve had to watch this season.

I think he’s a very good RWB or RW …… as a RB I think he’s very good cover but not 1st choice - it’s not his natural game style IMO

I really hope we can do a deal to sign him permanently, not as bad defensively as he's made out to be but the best finisher at the club.

I'd try him on the wing when people are out then Junior behind him.
He's learning the game but the lapses of concentration defensively have to go but he has got better this season I'd have him on loan again!

He will go on to play for Holland and be a top league regular - he has all the attributes. Quality Right-Back and has improved in our time with us

It's down to sloppy performances team wise, like the normal Hoever defensive brain-farts, that have placed us into our current predicament. He shows occasional touches of attacking brilliance, but defensively he's way below an acceptable performer.

I just can’t warm to him sorry.
Goes missing far too often then has the game of his life and everything is forgotten for the next 10 games of brain fartery.
Scored some fantastic goals for us but not for me I’m afraid, develop Tchamadeu instead.

If we can get him again on loan or for a smallish fee (£1-2mill) it’s a no brainer imo. Yes defensive frailties, but offers a lot going forward and with junior on board aswell they could share the load. I’d even be tempted use him higher up the pitch here and there, plus he’s only 22, room for improvement

Has the physical attributes to be a decent Premier League player. His mentality needs to improve: a lot.
Good, consistent coaching has been missing in his career so far; when/ if he gets this he will be a real asset for someone.
