Makes a mockery of the 'bums on seats' moniker.
Half filled stadiums on tv will look shite.
Football without fans is nothing.

So won't Stoke be doing their pay to view Saturday streams (where allowed)?

Given the availability of illegal streaming, the 3pm blackout to supposedly keep people going to games is now a total joke - especially now the alternative is all these ridiculous staggered kick off times. On a personal level, my daughter is starting to play matches on Saturday mornings from next season so all 12.30pm kick offs for Stoke won’t be possible to attend as her games will be the priority as far as I’m concerned. I'm gobsmacked the illegal streaming is still going strong. Would have thought the authorities and techys would have blacked it out by now. Surely it's having an impact on attendances??

Anybody managed to figure out what this is going to do to follow in the US? Typically, Sky Championship games get played on ESPN+. I don’t see this happening now, given the scope of the deal. Which other, new streaming service do I need to subscribe to so I can watch one very specific thing and ignore the rest? I can still see ESPN+ running with this. I have absolutely no logic for this, bar the fact that they regularly show dozens of live events at the same time and this will surely just be picking up the picture from Sky and broadcasting that? Obviously $$ might be a barrier to all this too..

The £935m tv deal over 5 seasons is pathetic and averages around £2.6m per EFL club per season. Contrast that with the current £5b for PL clubs over 3 yrs. Another kick in the teeth for lower league clubs.

Chairman (CEO?) of EFL on radio Stoke yesterday, Lee Blakeman asked him if the new deal inconveniences fans? Reply: attendances are their strongest ever in championship (he might have said EFL) and because fans love the live match-day experience they will adapt and still turn up!! He said EFL chairmen are struggling with budgets and it’s a good deal??? I think footy is - essentially - a working class game where grandparents, parents, kids, neighbours and cousins would walk to match on a Saturday lunchtime, maybe beers, match day programme, maybe hot dogs, tea coffee bovril etc etc and then all go home together. Instead this totally out-of-touch-with-reality thinks you can change that routine at the drop of a hat and do it on a Friday night or Sunday lunchtime or Monday night …… it’s all bollux and the fans should have all got together and called out this cynical money making project for what it is!!

So what are my options? I can’t get to games any more (too far away, too old to want to drive etc). Don’t have Sky and won’t pay for it. Last two years watched every match via a stream which won’t be available next season. Will there be anything available to enable me to watch some or all of the games?

Thanks. I hope you’re right, but I’ve not heard anything mentioned. Perhaps they’ll appear closer to the start.

Would have been much better if they'd just lifted the Saturday 3pm ban. It's already effectively lifted anyway because of IPTV which most people now have or know someone who has it. Would have been a far better solution than this.

internet protocol television , basically streaming , get a fire stick and there are numerous iptv providers , for around £40 a year you will get thousands of channels including all football games

Illegal streaming basically. Where you pay someone a fairly low annual fee of say £50 or £60 and you get unlimited access to all pay TV channels, football and lots of films and TV shows through an app that you can load onto your smart TV or an Amazon fire stick. Allegedly.

This procession of 12.30 games, played to streaming audiences of one man and a dog, are an absolute abomination. This new TV deal is an utter sham

Hope everyone enjoys the West Brom home game on 24th August, as there isn’t another 3pm Saturday home game for a further 8 weeks!
