It’s been obvious for years but people don’t want to see it for some reason. It’s really fucking annoying. It hasn't been obvious for years, or true. When you started saying it, it was bollocks. It may be true now, and certainly will be true before long, but that would be the case with any player when their legs have gone. It has. Dropping too deep and slow. He’s always done it.

It’s always very sad when you witness who was a great player in decline. He isn’t totally spent yet and might have a couple of seasons left at club level. At international level you need to respect what he has achieved but surely now is the time for Southgate to sideline him.

I could understand him doing it in years gone by because he didn't have the players around him. However, right now, he has no need to drop deep because he's got the players in midfield to get the best out of him. And that's before you get into the fact that he's clearly not as mobile as he used to be. And when he drops deeper, the oppositions back line come up at least ten yards which then puts us on the back foot which hinders us.

Isn't he England's top scorer in the tournament? 2 goals

Blowing out of his arse after 10 minutes. Clearly not fit. With a weak manager who won't tell him where to play (stay up front, don't try and so everything - it's not u12s) or dare to drop him because he's not fit. I honestly think that the best thing that could have happened to England today would have been for Kane to get injured and for him to have badly concussed the manager when he clattered into him.

Germany have done it with Muller.

Took every free kick, corner, throw, penalty and was undroppable.

Isn't he England's top scorer in the tournament? 2 goals England are somehow going to win this. We'll beat France in the final who are equally unambitious and mediocre.

I think Spain will beat France Hard to call England V Netherlands. They can shift the ball quickly but poor-ish central midfield. Both will fancy their chances.

If he had someone saying 'if you take a step in our half I'm fucking hooking you' he'd do what he's best at. As it is we've got a failed Boro manager prancing round in whatever M&S tell him to wear and who wants to be bezzies with the Senior players.

There’s something up with Kane. He’s come off the back of an excellent season in Germany but he’s not on it at all. Bayern has been beating his drum even when Kane was good but either he’s too isolated in this system or he’s injured. However, anyone who thinks Toney or Watkins are the solution after this tournament may be in for a shock.

The problem is I think Toney is nowhere near international standard. Good pen taker, thats it.
Actually somehow made us worse when he came on which took some doing.

He is doing the same thing I’ve been moaning about for 6 years. Dropping too deep and getting in everyone’s way. It’s nothing new.

If you can point out the games where Kane hasn't played and we've been demonstrably better then fair play.

It worked when we had Sterling in the team making the runs in behind filling the space. At the moment everyone drops back and nobody goes beyond Kane to offer any sort of outlet, we just end up penned in

That suggests he might be more effective with Watkins, who isn't as direct at Sterling was but does at least make runs in behind.

We need someone else to be an outlet when Kane drops deep because Kane is putting us under pressure, Watkins would definitely make those runs. Kane should be more aware of this problem and stand on the half way line to at least stop their centre backs tightening the pitch on us penning us in our third of the pitch. At spuds he had Son making those runs

[br Against Slovakia Toney had 22 touches in 30 minutes as opposed to Kane's 28 touches in 105 minutes, including the assist for Kane's goal and a great headed clearance from a corner. Kane has his moments but apart from those occasional pieces of brilliance may as well not be on the pitch. The question is whether he is worth playing as a passenger in exchange for those moments. Bellingham has been pretty much the same so my feelings are that one of them has to drop and it has to be Kane.

I wouldn't call him a bottler far from it. All players miss important chances. Ronaldo missed a penalty that could have ended Portugal's tournament I wouldn't say he bottled it, it happens

England have the Spanish player of the year, the English player of the year and the German top scorer. Put them together with all in a preferred position and they were crap. They’ve all been crap for 99% of the tournament.

Kane is the centre of that. We had 4 central midfielders yesterday and the idiot still dropped deep. In doing so, he made the two best passes of the game. He dropped deep because with four central midfielders in the game, we were still unable to pass forwards and instead had Pickford operate as playmaker.
