Sacking him, if he doesn’t deliver or takes them down, could really put them well in the shit financially No one knows the exit clauses similar to potter at Chelsea they don’t necessarily mean it’s a fully paid up contract term .

Steve Bruce mentioned on his podcast with Simon Jordan a while ago that managers generally only get a year's money when they are sacked. Pardew at Newcastle was mentioned jokingly when he got his (8 year?) long contract.

They are batting well above their average where he is concerned and can only be applauded for that something I feel we have consistently failed to do . ive bern supporting Stoke 50 plus years and today is the first day i would willingly swap managers with Port vale and they have had a couple of decent ones in that time Gordon Lee and John Rudge and a head case in John McGrath who was our bosksmp but great fun , but today is the first time id swap willingly Actually bottom half League 1,too half league 2 is pretty much where they have spent majority of their history

Who survives at a club for 5.5 years at that Level??? Talk about wishful thinking! The only way they are going to come out of that alive, is if he does well and buggers of somewhere else. There are always question marks at any manager at that Level, otherwise they wouldn't be there in the first place. There's only five managers in the country who've currently been at their clubs that long

Excellent appointment.
Thoroughly decent bloke who I will look forward to hearing on Radio Stoke.
Hope he fails miserably.

Is a manager any kind of solution nowadays. Not if Stoke City are part of the equation.

Jeez Louise… I know he crashed badly at Udders, but he’s plumbed new depths there.
Agreed though, very good appointment for the unwashed and on a deal like that, for him as well probably!

He was doing a great job at Donny Rovers but he got tempted by the bright lights at Sheff Weds. Found it difficult there and has struggled ever since. He will see Putrid Vile as a RESET for his managerial career. Can not see him doing much at all.

He will see Putrid Vile as a RESET for his managerial career. Can not see him doing much at all. He didn't exactly struggle at Wednesday, he got them promoted and he was very popular there too. It's true he struggled at Huddersfield, but they are not that much better without him.

Annoyingly, I think that’s a really good appointment by the Vale. I’d imagine he’ll be able to keep them up comfortably.

On paper a fantastic appointment for Vale.
They have a better manager than us😉, do you think we could agree a shared role for managing both Stoke and Vale?😀
