Never forget smurthwaire suggesting he was all set too hire a young black manager who’s name escapes me right now but decided against it as the vale fans were too racist too deal with him Live on radio stoke too! He's not wrong though good old Smurf. The Fail fans have form for it.

He's not wrong though good old Smurf. The Fail fans have form for it. Smurf was comedy gold! He was brilliant mate and the bastards still tried to mow him down. How he put up with their fans for so long I'll never know but it will be the same for Carol soon. They'll hound her out and I dare say try to mow her down despite all the good she's done for them.

Sounds like they're close to appointing Darren Moore.
Seems a decent appointment but his win record at Huddersfield was woeful.

Think he's one who has an entourage of 4/5 who follow him everywhere too. It'd be a good appointment, but cost wise you'd imagine they'd have to stay up to afford it. Moore is a good L1 manager but his Huddersfield stint would scare me too.

I mentioned it to a bloke at work who’s a massive vale fan n I said ‘you lot a far too racist for him…lose three games on the bounce n they’ll be chucking bananas at him’ his reaction and reply surprised me a bit cos he said ‘it’s the first thing I thought when I heard about it’ 🤦🏼♂️😂 that won’t end well at all.

Shame as I like Moore and normally would like to see him do well. 5.5 years is some commitment from the owners.........

I like Darren Moore. Long contract though! I think everybody likes him but I'm very dubious about how good a manager/head coach he is. Surely there'll be a get-out clause because I fear they'll want rid within a couple of years.

Who survives at a club for 5.5 years at that Level???
Talk about wishful thinking!
The only way they are going to come out of that alive, is if he does well and buggers of somewhere else.
There are always question marks at any manager at that Level, otherwise they wouldn't be there in the first place.

He's very likeable, still got my doubts over whether he's actually a good manager though, I've got a mate whose a Huddersfield fan who couldn't believe how poor he was.
The length of contract is sheer madness too, they're gambling on staying up basically.

They are batting well above their average where he is concerned and can only be applauded for that something I feel we have consistently failed to do . ive bern supporting Stoke 50 plus years and today is the first day i would willingly swap managers with Port vale and they have had a couple of decent ones in that time Gordon Lee and John Rudge and a head case in John McGrath who was our bosksmp but great fun , but today is the first time id swap willingly

On paper he's a good appointment mind. If it doesn't work out it'll be very expensive for them.

Pulis and Hughes were hardly srnt with best wishes from Bristol city or Plymouth or QPR he’s a great appointment for them long term I'm not sure, this is his 5th club since 2018(!). He's also had two relegations in that time, and only just about got Wednesday promoted despite having the best squad and biggest budget. He did well at Doncaster.

Sacking him, if he doesn’t deliver or takes them down, could really put them well in the shit financially

I've got it on good authority that Carol has fully lost the plot behind the scenes and is investing more and more money in to the German-backed bid to bring Woolworth's back to UK high streets.

Good manager in league one looking at his record, seems a likeable bloke.
He has a task in keeping Vale up though, unless he can find a few 'free agents' that can score in L1 they'll still be in trouble.
I think they'll have enough to stay up in the end. I just hope we're not playing them next year. We might see Stoke, Vale, Crewe all in League One (now I'm depressed).

I just hope we're not playing them next year. We might see Stoke, Vale, Crewe all in League One (now I'm depressed). He is a good coach and a good bloke as well. Bearing in mind he got Sheffield Wednesday promoted last season I think that this is quite a coup for Vale. Obviously his time at Huddersfield was not great, but they are a club that have struggled at the bottom end of the Championship for a several years now (so not an easy task). However, he has a hell of a job on his hands to turn the Vale ship around. They have a poor squad, no money, and a disgruntled fanbase - so, all the best there! 😂
