Josh Laurent will be good in a good team that plays with confidence and self belief. He was never the type of player who was going to thrive in a team bumming about in 18th, second guessing every pass and run. Sadly that's also the case for a lot of midfielders we've signed over the last 5 years, it's self fulfilling. We keep blaming the midfield and signing more and more of them without ever really resolving the issue of committing brain dead errors in defence every other week and averaging a goal a game despite being consistently better than that on XG. Those are the things that are really killing us. Midfielders hiding and being infuriatingly inconsistent is a symptom rather than a cause. Not that the hiding is forgivable, it's not and he was shocking for it. Good players stand out regardless, he very rarely did. It's the same nonsense excuse people made for Allen.

Bit worried they won't find a backbone in his medical.

One of it not the most overated player of all time, insanely made captain and how any Stoke fan can applaud his contribution here is way beyond me.
Woefully bad.

Sometimes it takes a good team or the right players around someone to make them stand out. Or sometimes even then they won't stand out. Glenn Whelan rarely stood out for us for example, but I think he's one of the best signings in my Stoke-supporting lifetime. He's the kind of player who made others look good because of the great work he did.

So you think he has been a good performer for us over the last few seasons? When we haven’t made the top half of the league and regularly been outplayed in midfield? We can be sure if Burnley get promoted he will never feature in the PL That’s not what I’m saying …..yeah he’s been woeful at times My point is it’s sometimes best not to listen to opposition fans in regards a player Why? He’s been shit here 🤣

I wouldn't say it's an excuse, also not saying he's in a class of player who is good enough to really stand out regardless of the team he's in, but you can dare bet that in a better set up you'll get the better version of him a hell of a lot more than the 1 in 6 or 7 games we managed. It's not like it's just Laurent, he just stands out because the odd decent performance is more infuriating than most. We've been making centre midfielders we sign worse for the better part of a decade. Not just some of them either, it's pretty much every last fucking one of them. Even the odd one that starts well ends up fading into oblivion.

Imagine selling sander berge and your replacement is Josh Laurent 🤣🤣 If be fucking fuming. Stoke City are set to bid farewell to midfielder Josh Laurent after they agreed a deal with Championship rivals Burnley. Laurent, last season's captain, has been a regular in the Stoke side in his two years at the club since joining from Reading in 2022.

Hes too old to learn new tricks. If he wanted bomb about smashing into the opposition and let players play then that's fine. Hes a lamb in wolves clothes with minimal football ability.

Whoever says he will be a loss to us hasn’t watched him jogging around staying out of the battle and passing it 5 yards sideways when our back have been against the wall looks like he is playing in a pre season game for 90 % of the time . Him and Thompson arnt good enough. Thompson ok as a back up

Stoke City captain Josh Laurent and Brighton forward Jeremy Sarmiento are undergoing medicals at Burnley ahead of their proposed moves to the club.
The Athletic reported on Wednesday Burnley had made an approach to sign Laurent, 29, who has one year remaining on his contract.
An initial fee of £500,000 ($650,000) has been agreed for the 29-year-old, plus a further £500,000 in add-ons, taking the total value of the transfer up to £1million.

He should get stuck in and give his all in every game because he plays central midfield for a professional football club that pays him a shit tonne of money to do exactly that. Not really about pleasing anyone is it. Of course it is it's his job. Some people are keen as mustard and some do enough to get by it's the same in any workplace some want to please, some do enough not to jeopardise their pay end of. Some people are keen as mustard look like they're working really hard/fast and are still less productive than the other non pleasing types (Gooch). Oh I agree mate in that they are the same as people in any other job. Just from a supporter's perspective I'm looking at it that effort is the bare minimum every week.

I was told a medical was taking place yesterday, thought it was Al Hamadi but Cundle was also mentioned in a rushed conversation, I’ll stake my ITK reputation that Cundle signs soon I'll raise you cundle announced in a double swoop alongside stansfield. 😉 If that happens I will not be held responsible for where my jizz lands.
