He just doesn't trust Foden does he, how lovely to have an international manager to talk about your weaknesses and not your strengths when your'e one of the most exciting talents in your country and then play a midfielder playing in Saudi and a central defender who can't get a game for his club.

Foden played in the centre against Newcastle this season and tore them a new arsehole. The lad is a once in a generation talent and this clown can't accommodate him into his starting eleven. It's genuinely laughable. |

Would love to know what the attraction of Kalvin Phillips is.
Played very,very sparse for his club but in the England squad,maybe starting tonight and also the subject of a documentary.
And plus the fact that he is a very mediocre footballer.....baffling.

If he plays Maguire and Phillips then Southgate deserves the abuse he is going to get .
Nobody thinks those 2 are the future of English football.
If he is adamant that he needs a busy player next to rice , who is going to put in a lot of tackles , make a lot of interceptions and run around a lot , go for ward prowse, he's ten times the footballer that Phillips is.
If he had actually had the bottle to go with one midfield anchor ( rice ) v Scotland,then Madison and foden have far more flair than Phillips.
Maguire is plain awful selection these days .
Ben Wilmott is more likely to be one for the future, than Maguire!

Blood n thunder for 60 minutes fizzling out towards the end as nobody really wants a knock playing out towards a ceremonial Desmond would be my prediction.
Not really got the juices flowing yet - I'll probably have one eye on Norway Georgia to see if we qualify tonight or not.
Two decent sides so if anything will be a decent test for England as your qualifiers tend to be a bit of a procession. Spain turned up half arsed and got skelpt but can't see you making that mistake.
If England really go for it though the bench will make a difference.

Agree that he hasn't done much spectacularly bad while playing for England, but he shouldn't be in the squad, especially given what Southgate had said about only picking players who are playing and in form for their club |
