Two newbies at centre half and not your first choice goalkeeper. McTominey and McGinn might have some joy there. With the home Internationals this used to be the biggest game of the year, now I have to listen to these plokers. What a come down. I don't want any excuses from fans tonight. This is the centre back pairing fans and pundits have been asking for. Time to step up. They wouldn't be my choice, just saying now 😉 |

Would still have Maddison in for Phillips.

Midfield of Bellingham rice and Madison for me. I can see why he's shat it again at Hampden, but even so it's a friendly and if he'd had gone with Madison instead of Philips and it didn't work out he wouldn't get hammered but again, it's what everyone has called for. |

Southgate is the best England Manager we've had for decades. Perhaps only 2nd to Ramsey in the all time list. Give your heads a wobble. in terms of achievements then yes, but I think you need to look at what's at your disposal Bobby Robson let's face it went into Wc1990 with a pretty wank squad, Gazza wasnt a regular, nor Platt yet got to the semis where we were the best team with players playing out of their skin like Pearce, Parker and Beardsley For that reason it goes Ramsey, Robson then Venables for me We've had "Golden Generations" before and not gone as far as we have under Southgate. Some people haver either short memories or are too young to remember. Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes, Owen, Rooney, Beckham, Shearer, Cole, Terry, Ferdinand etc. We've had more than enough talent over the past 20+ years (allegedly) and no manager has managed to take us as far as Southgate. And yet we still have "entitled" fans pissing and moaning like spoilt brats. It isn't as simple as shoving the most talented players into the staring eleven. Despite what the "experts" on here think. Southgate has done a brilliant job and should be rightly lauded. He won't, however, by most. They're yearning for the glory years of the past 5 decades...... |

When you're the lesser opposition and you're at home with that crowd the most important thing in their players minds, even before scoring is go in hard on an england player.
