Would this be our first ever Korean player? If we've ever had a player with Korean heritage it's definitely been minimal, in the same way Danny Batth is Punjabi, on the surface level not something you'd really notice (although Batth could be Punjabi for all I know)

I thought we made the offer earlier in the window and he turned us down It was mentioned about a month ago, but didn't get to the stage where it was in the papers or anything, by the looks of it. Just on a Daejeon fan forum. Looks like Marseille were being linked at the time, so can't blame him for not jumping in immediately?

Remember this name mentioned around July, Yonhap News originally said he wasn't interested in a move to Stoke, but if Daejon confirm a bid has been made and negotiations are underway then that's a huge positive. Get it done Stoke!

I'd rather not sign a player who doesn't really want to come here.

Most players that play for Stoke don't want to be here we're just a stepping stone

I'd rather not sign a player who doesn't really want to come here. Can't really blame him for not jumping in at the first interest though, can you? We're probably not a dream destination when he's been mentioned with teams like Marseille. medium.com/@carlbaron109/bae-joon-ho-vows-to-challenge-europe-klinsmann-role-expected-84a0b4436456‘The future of Korean soccer’ Bae Jun-ho (Daejeon Hana Citizens, 20) has revealed his desire to play in Europe. “My goal is to reach Europe. I want to play at a high level, and if I get a good opportunity, I want to go out and get a lot of experience while I’m young,” Bae said at the Daejeon U-20 national team’s media day at the Daejeon World Cup Stadium on April 19. Bae Jun-ho, who has been recognized as the “№1” player since his high school days, has made the most of his talent since his professional debut. Despite being born in 2003, he has already established himself as a key resource for Daejeon. He can play in the center, on the flanks, or in the second line. In particular, his performance at the last FIFA U-20 World Cup made him a favorite among fans. The highlight of his performance was the round of 16 match against Ecuador, where he scored one goal and one assist. His goal, which utilized exquisite ball trapping and painting, was a clear demonstration of his special talent and flair. It wasn’t just the domestic fans who applauded his talent. Ahead of the quarterfinal against Italy, FIFA described Bae as “creative and unpredictable in his play.” 메이저놀이터 Carmine Nunziata, head coach of the Italian national team, said after the win over South Korea, “The №10 (Bae) was particularly good. He was an outstanding player,” he said. The talk of going to Europe was inevitable. Already in high school, he had received interest from European clubs such as Germany and France, and as he showed his talent through the professional ranks and the U-20 World Cup, the transfer speculation intensified. While Bae was careful to say that “nothing is finalized at the moment,” he made it clear that he wants to challenge himself as soon as he gets the chance. His desire to play in Europe has drawn the attention of Germany national team coach Jürgen Klinsmann. Coincidentally, Klinsmann was in the same place as Bae at the press conference for the El Salvador match. He expressed his desire to help the future of Korean soccer. “I’ve been contacted by a lot of coaches in Europe,” Klinsmann said. I get a lot of inquiries about players who play in the K League and players who played in the U-20 World Cup. There could be a situation where three or four players from the U-20 World Cup make it to Europe. The future of Korean soccer is bright, and I want to help. It’s my job to help them grow.” Klinsmann, a former world-class striker, 안전놀이터추천 is also a member of UEFA’s advisory board. His network leads to direct phone calls from players, including members of the U-20s. Klinsmann’s desire to help the future of Korean soccer is all the more welcome. He can be a great support for the youngsters, including Bae Joon-ho, in their quest to reach Europe.

He’s just read that Korean football tweet. Wasn't he Sky Sports? Probably explains it. Their main source for transfers is Fabrizio Romano, pretty embarrassing really.

Foootball Insider have him as Joon-Ho Bae? Chinese/Korean names are often written with surnames first and then first name OR the other way round (as with English).

Doesn’t look that great from the video clips? Do you mean apart from his first touch, close control, spatial awareness and ability to pick a pass? It's hard to translate a video clip into how he might perform in the Championship but in the context of the games in the videos he looks to have something about him to me.

Here we fucking go this is what I've wanted for years. Considering we were one of the early pioneers with Frank Soo, I have always felt we could be a bit more imaginative with that side of the world, the Bundesliga and teams like Celtic and Brighton have proven there is talent there and of course Son is a fantastic player for Spurs. Obviously I'm not expecting this lad to light the world on fire because I know fuck all about him but even off the pitch the commercial income for something like this could be HUGE for the club in a world where we are trying to be self sufficient. Stoke signed Frank Soo from Prescot Cables (Lancashire?)! His parents were Chinese but he was English in so far as he played for England! Stoke didn't recruit players from abroad in those days (at least I can't think of any!).

Always nice to see us scouring the whole globe rather than just the celtic nations and players who used to play for Northern Ireland like when we had O'Neill.
Other than Frank Soo who I'm pretty sure was English and was around a century ago, have we ever had a far Eastern player playing for us?
