If this deal is genuinely 3million euros then we should close it ASAP regardless of getting a replacement. 3million for Leris is too much to turn down Why? Players tend to improve a year after being in this country. I expect a few of our players to be much better than last season so there's no reason why Leris can't improve and look a different player to last season

That hasn’t been a problem for him. His technique is very inconsistent, there’s no reason to think that will significantly improve in his second season.

Leris is an ok player, who can have a good game now and then but it's highly unlikely we will see any improvement on him.
If 3m is the number we should be snapping their hand off, replacement or not.

We don't really know if the plan is to keep him or offload him at the end of the window. He could just be filling a gap for now. We don't see what Schumacher sees in training, he will know if he is useful to him or not. If we keep him then he is obviously giving Schumacher a good reason to which is hopefully not just desperation because of the situation we are in

Probability is he hasn’t gone because we seem unable to sign any replacements. If you refuse to believe anything until the club confirm or deny it there’s very little point in being on a thread that you know in advance is going to be full of speculation. The club website is highly recommended for things that have actually definitely happened.

If he’s under contract for 2 or more years then give him a chance. Newly arrived, in and out of the side. Hopefully has settled more now. If he goes then fair enough but if he stays then give him a chance.

If there’s hesitation to sell him because we need a replacement must show that SS thinks of him as an important part of the team, totally agree he has to adapt to championship football but I like his attitude and effort, but £3mil is a bloody good return..

Imagine buying something, being pretty disappointed with it then somebody offers you three times what you paid for it. Exactly how spurs felt when they offloaded Wimmer to us.

The fact they had even less inclination to play him than we have had in playing Leris might have been seen as a bit of a clue.

I think Leris is a very important member of the squad. He can play a number of different roles and is a great sub to bring on to protect a point or win. He had a couple of shockers last season but then just about every player did. He's more important to the club than 3m euros in my opinion.

Seems a half decent player to me, I’d be more than happy to see him stay. Problem is spending the 3m wisely (if that’s what the offer is)

There is no way Pisa are going to pay £3M for Leris, unless he's got some mad reputation over there! He's worth half that at most.

The way I see it is we brought in up to 20 players last summer, some have proved a great success, some are clearly not up to the demands of the Championship, but a high proportion I suggest like Lèris need time to adapt to the Championship, get a better understanding with the rest of the squad, and what the manager wants to implement, remembering they have had to work for two managers last season and change strategy.
There clearly needs to be change but wholesale change means starting from scratch, incremental change will yield better results than chopping and changing the way some managers manage. Any gardener knows you don't keep pulling up a plant to see how the roots are growing!
There are three issues with Lèris:
1. Is he going to be consistantly good enough?
2. What does he want himself? No point in keeping an unsettled player, or one who has ambitions to go elsewhere.
3. What is his commercial value? You can't refuse a generous offer.

I think this is another benefit in going into the non-domestic transfer market, imagine if Leris was called Mike Trotter, he'd have cost us about 5m, 50% more wages and if we tried to sell him we'd get an offer of 250k from a league 1 club

I like Leris but would take £2M in a heartbeat.
£3M would be a great deal.

my pure speculation is that this "3 million euros offer" is just smoke without substance, possibly agent-planted. I can't see Pisa offering that much unless the tower fainted and they've just collected insurance money.

Latest Leris update "Delays are expected for Mehdi Leris, 26 years old. The medical visits have been postponed by a few days, so during the finalization phase of the negotiations, one last detail with Stoke City still needs to be ironed out, even if the player, according to leaks from both sides, will wear the black and blue jersey."

Probably because we can't fill a match day squad witn senior pros if we sell him.

I really like Leris and for me in the right setup would be a first team regular. The problem is it's hard to see where he fits in a Schumacher team so he ends up looking like a bits and pieces player who only gets on the pitch when there is a gap to fill.
3 million is good money but personally I wouldn't spend it on a direct replacement - the bulk of the money should go to filling key positions, not someone effectively playing a utility role.

I still think the idea of leris/Gooch was they were the genuine RB cover and by selling Leris it opens up the Hoever deal. 3m sale for leris and a 3m purchase for Hoever, leaving the wages as the big issue would represent fantastic business, a huge squad upgrade and a massive asset in the team. Of course people will still say he is rubbish but ah well
