maybe another 1 who as been wrote off by us and will go on to better himself,ie Moting and Joshalu, When those players left, did you honestly see them doing as well as they have done, especially Joselu? I doubt anyone in the world thought they'd go on to achieve anywhere near what they have done and I really liked Joselu. Strange it's happened so many times but some people just can't accept there are players who can't adapt to the English game. They came, they flopped and if they came back they'd flop again.

Am I alone in thinking he's quite decent, always seems like he gives 100% and looks bothered. I'd be quite happy if we were to hang onto him. Gouranga. Pay me enough and I'll look bothered, hate this argument for a footballer. It's incredible how many don't though.

Authentic joker from midfield? Christ, they haven't even signed him yet and they're laying into him. See, it isn't just this messageboard... Confused the hell out of me as I’ve never seen it before, but it looks like ‘jolly’ is how a utility player is described in Italian. It’s literal translation can be the Joker from a pack of cards… so maybe it’s similar to calling someone a wildcard. (Sorry for my ponderings on the Italian language, just interested me 😂) Correct, jolly in this context means he can play any position, essentially.

Onyedinma lined up as a cheap replacement for Leris, you'd think. Fine, as long as the funds from the sale are used to strengthen elsewhere.

He’s functional, but limited. And at that price can’t help but feel we should be snapping their hands off. Thanks for Bristol City Mehdi but please go and enjoy yourself some carbonara.

He shouldn't be anywhere near the team today then if this is true.

I personally think he will be a miss for us. Maybe not a main player in the first team but a very useful squad player to cover injuries and closing games out because he’s a bit more defensive. Also good header of the ball as an outlet.
These type of players are needed I think in an overall squad. It will be interesting to see if the trialist is a straight replacement or they have something else in mind?
We can’t judge anything yet though until the end of august.

If it was €1m, basically our money back you’d be happy enough and it would be much more believable
Surely BS if it’s €3m fee, but maybe the €3m is including his wages on a 3 year deal.

All their local outlets seem to be reporting it though - so it's quite elaborate if it's bull. www.iltirreno.it/pisa/sport/2024/08/03/news/pisa-calciomercato-news-lapadula-1.100563422As with the arrival of Leris, given that the agreement with the former Brescia and Sampdoria player has been in place for some time and the one with Stoke City has also been in place for a few days. Just bureaucratic times, in short: the winger should be there by the middle of the week.

I have a horrible feeling it’s just bs. Because of the price? Yeah. It’s just way too much isn’t it. Including wages would make sense (I’ve just done the sums) so 1m to us, 2m wages over 3 years which is still nearly 13k a week. Christ imagine if we’re paying the useless fucker that.

It could just be a bunch of daft add-ons? £1m upfront, £500k if they win promotion, £500k if they stay up the following season, £500k if they get into Europe within 3 years, that type of stuff?

Pisa transfer market. Leris, there is an agreement with Stoke City and the player sport.quotidiano.net/calcio/pisa/calciomercato-leris-ce-accordo-con-stoke-city-e-giocatore-854e193fTransfer market. Leris, there is agreement with Stoke City and player Pisa concluded the negotiations for the arrival of Mehdi Leris from Stoke City positively. It stands at figures above three million euros. While waiting for the official announcement, the club continues to work on the market, with an interest in young talents and the exits of some players. Pisa has successfully closed another transfer market deal, although there is no official status yet. In fact, Mehdi Leris (in the photo), 26 years old, is arriving from Stoke City among the points of reference for the Algerian national team. In the end, according to what was collected, the yes was also received from English club. The deal stands at figures above three million euros plus various bonuses, while the player will soon sign a three-year contract. The medical examinations will be scheduled in the next few hours, but the player is now about to join the Nerazzurri club which, for weeks, has been trying to give Inzaghi one of its protégés when the international transfer from abroad arrives. "Tramoni and Leris are key to our game.". Word of Pippo Inzaghi. Statements that seem more relevant than ever, but instead date back to 20 February 2022, when the coach coached Brescia and the two players were the points of reference on the coach's tactical board. This is the report I was referring to.

Yep they do, in last 2 season their overall net spend is around £20 million. They have just sold someone for 8mill and bought a keeper for 2.5mill so the fee for Leris isn't unbelievable for what they are spending.

Selling him for €3mil + would be possibly our best business since getting arnie for €2.5 It’s Sheron/scott esque.

I don’t see how he can. His output has been abysmal throughout his career. Hence there was something buried in the deeper data that led us to sign him though having managed him before Inzaghi doesn’t have to rely on the data at all. He’ll know why he wants him and I’d be very surprised if he expected his output to suddenly jump significantly. It's almost like not everything in football can't be measured by "output" stats... His work rate is second to none, and he has a tendency to try things that is way above his skill level (and sometimes pulling it off). He's also fairly strong and medium quick, and wins a lot of headers for a player that has been a winger/wingback his entire career. You, of all people, should recognize that his physicality and work rate when playing on the wing makes spece for others to thrive. For Leris, he didn't have any to thrive off of it. If he goes, I'll thank him for his efforts. It's not easy being a foreigner in a new league, learning a new way of playing football and starting his spell under a shit manager. Mehdi Leris will go on to make a difference for Pisa, I'm pretty sure of that. Yeah right given our scoring exploits I think that theory might get a bit too much of an airing at Stoke. Maybe try to pack the squad with players with as much output as you can gather together might be a bit of a better policy.

"Hello Mr Pisa, when you're done with that superstar winger Leris, you know the one who is a cross between Luis Figo and David Beckham like we told you, we've got a Jamaican international midfielder that wants to try his hand in Italy. He's a real good un'. He's like a cross between Edgar Davids and Clarence Seedorf. Up west he normally retails for 25M, but for you just a snip at 2.5M. We'll even throw in some lawnmower engines..."

If this is true then it demonstrates that the new way of recruitment is working. You don't have to particularly rate a player, but if we are turning a profit 12 months later without it being much of an impact on the squad then it's all good.

New way or is it now the old way again? Time will tell on that question I suppose.
