If this is true then it demonstrates that the new way of recruitment is working. You don't have to particularly rate a player, but if we are turning a profit 12 months later without it being much of an impact on the squad then it's all good. Which is where I was with Brown. I didn’t rate him at all but I would say that past the academy players we’ve sold he’s the only successful transfer we’ve made in the Championship. I really can’t think of any others we’ve made a profit on? We doubled our money with him and you can’t argue against that. We sold him at the complete right time, got the most money we could for a player like him and it was a good transfer.

So does this go down as a Dublin win or a fail?

can’t be a fail if we’re making money can it Are we definitely making money? If so then yes it’s a financial success. We’ll probably never know as we always seem to do purely “undisclosed” fees. But you’d imagine we’ll make some and hopefully double our outlay at least based on reports. He’s a crap player, work rate aside, he’s a player I’d rather we didn’t have so the manager isn’t tempted to try to use him at any point.

Brown is a lovely lad and you couldn't knock his effort. We cashed out at the right time.

It is very tricky to know with the complex structure of transfer deals these days. I’m on the fence. As a squad player I think he’s handy to have.

"Hello Mr Pisa, when you're done with that superstar winger Leris, you know the one who is a cross between Luis Figo and David Beckham like we told you, we've got a Jamaican international midfielder that wants to try his hand in Italy. He's a real good un'. He's like a cross between Edgar Davids and Clarence Seedorf. Up west he normally retails for 25M, but for you just a snip at 2.5M. We'll even throw in some lawnmower engines..." I think you're just trying to take Mr Pisa for a gullible fool. "I said you buy one you get one free, YOU BUY ONE YOU GET ONE FREE"! Pisa fans message board: This bloke must be fucking shit, Stoke fans are laughing their cocks off at us.

For once we appear to have taken the Tottenham Hotspur approach to player sales and had somebody's pants down. It makes a nice change.
To be fair to Leris his heading ability made him a useful outlet when we had nobody else to hit it long to, I did like that about him. But if £3m is true then you can't turn it down.

Looks like the Leris story is made up yet again. No way would he be in the squad for a friendly if we’d accepted a bid, or even if a deal was close

What is the situation with Bae? Has the club said? Fitness precaution they have said. He was seen limping at the open training session. Apparently he has told a fan today he won't be back until watford
