Touted around a bit? Supposed agreement with Alaves, they have him down as a RWB, it certainly seems he can play there. Alternative option to Tchamadeu or a Jared special? That could explain his stats a little.

He seems a converted fullback potentially? A lot of the clips I've seen are of him putting a tackle in anyway.

1 goal 1 assist in 32 games last season in a relegated side.. if what I've just looked at is correct. Interesting that despite the figures they’ve played him so much. He must be doing something right.

Doesn't seem a Plan A signing though. We're maybe working our way down the list after missing out on a few?

I must admit I've never heard of him. Fair comment as always. The only Mahdi that I've ever heard of was a fanatical religious leader in Sudan in the 1880's!

Reading the comments on that Sampdoria forum, they seem to think he's a hard worker who's a very good athlete - but are less complimentary about the other parts of his game!
For about 800k though, we've got to be realistic about what we can get. Could be a decent squad man

Could be a decent squad man 'High pressing' seems to be the primary strength I've been able to find about him, and he seems pretty versatile, including being able to play more centrally in midfield and popping up on the left. Seems an odd connection on the face of it. Jared's computer must see something in him though!

13 yellow cards last season in 32 games last season. Could be fun I guess… A feisty character possibly…? About time we had a few in the team

Seemed to do okay for Brescia in Serie B on loan www.tifobrescia.it/2022/01/03/pagelle-biancoblu-centrocampisti-leris-e-tramoni-imprendibili-da-rivedere-jagiello-e-cavion/LERIS 7 On his day, on the wing he is impregnable for the opponents. The Frenchman was the flagship especially in the first part of the championship. Then a small injury also kept him out a bit: he still has to find the best form to return to being the real thorn in the side of the opposing defenses. www.tifobrescia.it/2021/11/13/laffranchi-gazzetta/WHAT'S THE SURPRISE AMONG THE PLAYERS OF THE SQUAD? “ Leris: he makes the difference, he belongs to another category ”. Brescia's virtue lies in Mehdi Léris . This is the attack of the Bresciaoggi article which underlines the importance and impact of the French-Algerian footballer. In fact, the data doesn't lie: with him on the field, we travel at an average of 2.5 points per game, on the contrary, when the former Sampdoria wasn't on the field, things went badly. At the beginning Inzaghi also underlined that Brescia's defeats did not depend on the absence of just one player, then the same coach underlined his unavailability and after the success against Pordenone he said: "Let's not forget that in the last we have missed important players, including Léris .” In short, Inzaghi knows well when Léris is fundamental because he is the only player in the squad who knows how to combine substance in the defensive phase and quality in the offensive phase.

Sounds like he adds a bit of substance and also a little dash of class. Sounds OK to me for around 800k.

If he has a high work rate and pressing sounds like the perfect sort of foil Neil wants in front of Hoever.
