Two good results on the bounce for Stafford Rangers, a 1-1 draw away at 3rd placed Hyde last week, and a 2-1 injury time win at home to 7th placed Guiseley today, now only three points from safety with a game in hand. Yes, I was really pleased about the home win on Saturday. My old Dad lives in Stafford and is still just about up to going to Marston Road when the weather is not too cold, and I have always really enjoyed it. I am off to see Rangers away at Bradford Park Avenue this Saturday afternoon, as it is pretty easy to get to from here - as you will be aware, an archetypal 'relegation 6 pointer'. I was convinced a month ago that they had had it, but hopefully with a good result on Saturday they might just pull off staying up. Marske United's troubles have done them a favour no doubt, although I take no pleasure in seeing any non-league side struggling financially. I watched us against Leek in the last pre season game, and you could see then that we were miles away from a competitive side, Leek were better all over the pitch, we just didn’t recruit well enough in the summer (That makes both my sides 😩) but with Cooke coming in a few months ago, he is experienced and did a great job at Nantwich, so even if we do go down I think he will put it right next season, but he has given us a real chance. Like you say we looked dead and buried a few months ago. Yeah massive game against Bradford, would have thought a decent away following after Saturdays result.

Was away with Stafford Rangers at Bradford Park Avenue this afternoon, watching a game that neither side (both in relegation places and separated by goal difference only) could afford to lose. Cold, wet weather at what must be one of the most elevated grounds in this league, with views of distant snow covered hills towards Huddersfield. Good atmosphere, decent crowd and a lot of chat with Avenue supporters, and also a group of Notts County fans who had come in. Was fairly even first half, but early in the second half Rangers gave away a penalty, and didn't capitalise on a couple of late chances, so sadly lost 1-0. They still have a game in hand on the two sides above them, but it will be a struggle to get out of the relegation places.

I do hope Stafford stays up! It would be a great away day for Leek next season! Leek won 3-0 at home today in front of 973 fans! Beating 2nd placed Runcorn, fantastic game and atmosphere! We are now 12 points clear with 9 games remaining!

I have a season ticket for both and must admit it was a hard decision to miss Leek especially after our recent run of very poor results. Here’s hoping to us staying up and Leek going up👍

It’s ground hopping weekend in the North West Counties League.
It’s been badly affected by the weather unfortunately but if it’s on I’m going to go and watch Charnock Richards v Skelmersdale this afternoon…..

Leek were solid! Do you stand in the grace street stand?

No I tend to stick near the main stand at the Kiln Lane end or go under cover at either end of the ground if it’s chucking it down.

1874 Northwich v Leek next Saturday, bottom v top, might have a walk up to it.
Yesterday's 1874 home match and a junior cup final today, were both off for a waterlogged pitch.

Really was an outstanding all-round performance by leek yesterday. First half was as good as we've played all season, and to do that in a big game takes some bottle. Second half, Runcorn huffed and puffed but created nothing.
Knowing the manager, no way will they let their standards dip. The lads are a fantastic bunch and love the interaction with the supporters in the bar after. No prima donnas, but some very good footballers, and a top class manager who is tactically astute - amazed that Stoke allowed him to leave their staff to go to Vale tbh.

We are now 12 points clear with 9 games remaining! Great news. Leek have either narrowly missed out or been robbed of promotion by things like covid for years. The Northern Premier League is probably about their level and they've been playing below that for far too long.

Yes it is, the Library only has about a dozen places and the school about 50. Nearest pub is the Barn Owl, not the best. It's only a 15 minute walk to the Anderton boat lift if you are interested in that sort of thing, and the Stanley Arms pub next to it do pub food and an all day breakfast.

It's quite exposed on the top of a hill and a strong wing blowing tomorrow, bring a big coat. I may be near Liam Buckleys parents, I think his entourage are all starting 🍺 in the village cricket club at 1pm.

I have to say he's been the signing of the season, he's been consistently brilliant and I would go as far to say he's the best right back in the league!

Leek v Stoke city in the Staffordshire Senior Cup Semi Final at Harrison Park tomorrow night 7:45 KO, should be a good game and a chance to see the youngsters against what I imagine will be a full strength Leek side...and only a fiver entry! What's not to like👍

Off to Marston Road tomorrow night for Stafford Rangers v Macclesfield. Looks a good game in prospect as both sides need a win for opposite reasons.

Hednesford were terrible, again, and Paul Moore has done very little so far to win over the Hednesford fans.might be a trip back up to northwich next season to face the vics.massive game at home to vauxhall tomorrow night for us.

I'd really like to see all 3 Northwich teams combine and make 1 decent team that could get to Conference Level, the town needs it, it's where Cheshire FA HQ is, instead of the local pettiness that goes on between them.

Sad to see Northwich Victoria struggling in the lower leagues, they had a really good ground and had a decent fa cup run on a few occasions. Still remember the 05/06 Conf North season in which Northwich battled it out with Stafford for the league title. Both teams went up to the conference in the end with Northwich winning the league and Stafford winning the play offs, good times.

Leek have blown all and sundry away since their last defeat in November, and after missing out on promotion the last few years thoroughly deserve ther promotion this season. I believe they could be champions this Saturday.

Not this Saturday mate, still 7 games and 21 points to play for although Prescott(18 points behind in 3rd) play Runcorn(15 points behind in 2nd) on the 1st of April so depending on our next 2 games it could be won that weekend!

Turned up to our running club to open up last night (at the football ground) but it was already open and someone asked me if I was Hanley Towns kit man, charming ! Turns out they'd got a late rearranged fixture and forgot to tell us, 1874 Northwich 0 - 1 Hanley Town, another early goal conceded on 5 minutes like on Saturday.
Stafford Rangers 1 -3 Macclesfield last night as well, Stafford not looking good now 6 points from safety.
