No, that starting 3 in midfield is nowhere near good enough if there’s any hope or strife to be aiming towards top 6. Pearson walks into most teams, I fully believe that. Laurent far too 50/50. Was fantastic in the run of 6 good games last season, but then disappeared for the remainder of the season. And albeit injured, the first half of the season was the same story. DJ a good signing but it’d be underwhelming if he was the starting advanced midfielder. Like I said though, good signing and certainly makes the squad better. Laurent showed in those 6 games he has it in him to be the box-to-box engine. Hopefully Neil and co have done some work on his fitness and stamina to ensure those performances are more consistent. DJ is an excellent No 10, technically I think he’s up there as one of the division’s best. As st3mark said a few posts up though, our midfield three lacks aerial prowess and I also think DJ is a bit lightweight. A goalie and defence who can play out from the back is going to be important.

Whelan was only really League One/Champ I think Yet somehow managed to play 280 PL games under 2 different managers. That’s some good going for a league one player. 😂 I read the original post as implying they were both proven performers.

AN seems to be getting the players he wants , which suggests we are competitive in the wages / terms we are offering . Lots of reasons to believe AN wanted , Rose , DJ and Pearson signed up for a while and now they are . Two year deals seem canny for players pushing 30 If we can get a quality keeper in, I will be borderline optimistic for this season . If we can get a youngish ( say 25 ish ) decent target man as well , I will be really looking forward to the season . We might not need a youngish one if Lowe and/or Tezgel can step up. I think a player like the Fletcher we first signed could be the perfect signing in that position.

Ideally I’d still want 2 new starting central midfielders but I think Johnson will be alright on the whole.
Got to hope that him and Laurent can strike up a good relationship on the pitch because both need to step up.

I think he will having acquired Pearson but signed him as a back up for Pearsons role in case of injury

Lowe is 17 and has made a grand total of two sub appearances totaling fifteen minutes on the pitch in senior football. There’s no way he’s going to “step up” and be Championship level this season. Tezgel is a slightly different prospect as he’s a once in a blue moon talent but he’s also very raw and we shouldn’t put the weight of too much expectation on him just yet.

I guess he’s yet another number 8 but he gets teams up the pitch playing in that role. I guess nobody really knows but you’ve got to be hopeful else what’s the point

I didn't necessarily mean this season, hence suggesting we don't need a young player. Someone experienced could be great for Lowe and Tezgel. Saying that, I wouldn't be surprised if at least one became a regular starter next season.

Don't understand the love in for him. He's always looked bang average and his best days are behind him. Hardly an upgrade on Powell or Smallbone

Hardly an upgrade on Powell or Smallbone Totally agree - good signing if used as back up but shouldn't be a regular starter and doesn't have the legs required to play in a team that presses in midfield

Hardly an upgrade on Powell or Smallbone Yes, I suppose the kindest thing you can say is that he's another warm body to throw at the thing. Right now we look much weaker than last season by I am sure there are several more signings to come and a couple of racy looking 'hit and hope' loans.

Didn’t he also predict the world would end way before then, or was that the Mayans Yes and no. The 2012 end of the world bollocks was based on the mayan calendar "predicting the end of the world". Except the calendar didn't actually predict this at all. If I remember correctly the calendar simply came to an end and Mayan decendants never felt the world was going to end at that point and compared it to when any calendar comes to an end. Lots of money was made by Hollywood, documentaries and click bait articles though. Yeah that’s the one.

The worst signing of the summer.
Fucking useless.

Rose and Hoever are dreadful defenders that can and have cost us. Plus Hoever can’t cross worth a damn.

He's not that bad. Rose and Hoever were worse signings. He’s fucking atrocious. Rose, Hoever, Mmae, Lewis, Johnson and Vidigal are all varying degrees of atrocious. Surely Clark can’t be as bad Rose. He may be well past his prime, but at least he know what he supposed to do. Rose doesn’t have a clue.
