Interesting to see some context to this now. Very much so, maybe now it maybe suggested he was suffering from a mental illness...

Interesting to see some context to this now. Really? How? This has all the hallmarks of a Police "Leak" (obviously Kaba is not in a position to defend himself against an allegation) The Police have already said they had no idea who was in the car when Kaba was shot The car Kaba was shot in was allegedly involved in a firearms incident the previous day and was not owned by Kaba nor was any weapon found in the car after he was shot The car Kaba was shot in has no connection to the shooting incident a week previous What this Article is saying is that a shooting incident took place a week before Kaba was shot. 4 men have been charged over that incident and "Allegedly " Kaba was also present What context does that provide where Kaba may or may not have been present at a shooting a week before he himself was shot in a car that had nothing to do with the previous shooting and when he was shot Police had no idea who was in the car? As I have said endlessly I am quite content to await the outcome of the IOPC Report before making any judgement in this case

This can't be true as he was a lovely man... How convenient Kaba was shot dead and thus unable to defend himself in that well known principle of "Innocent unless proven Guilty" Id imagine that some people are a bit twitchy while the CPS consider the IOPC Report into his shooting so throwing around a bit of dirt which can't be proved one way or another is a good ploy

Time will indeed tell Obviously no Jury will be involved unless CPS decide to charge. The Jury was referring to the case where he and his friends are suspects. He's not a suspect, he's dead If he had lived he may or may not have been charged and he may or may not have been convicted, we shall never know. In the aftermath of Kaba's shooting and at his inquest it was stated it was the car that was being pursued due to a shooting incident but that Kaba was not a suspect The IOPC lead investigator, Dean Brown, confirmed the Audi that Kaba had been driving was “believed to be linked to a firearms incident which took place the previous day”. He told the inquest the Audi was followed and that no lights or sirens were used. He also said Kaba was not a suspect. www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/oct/04/chris-kaba-was-followed-by-police-before-being-fatally-shot-hears-inquest

I don’t believe the suspects for the shooting in the club were identified till after the death/shooting of Chris Kaba so at the time they may have only had the vehicle linked to the shooting at the club hence the comment around Kaba not being a suspect. As you say I guess we’ll never formally know but I think people will draw there conclusions from the facts known and if there are co defendents what happens to them. There’ve been plenty of cases where this has happened Fred West Raoul Mote Jeffrey Epstein Jimmy Saville Never formally sentenced but clearly guilty

This of course didn't stop Andrew continuing to associate with him.

I think he’s as guilty as sin but that’s going against the “innocent till proven guilty” rational.

It was a Civil Case and he decided to pay £12M to make it go away so I'd say you're on pretty safe ground in your assumption

Can’t say it’s a huge surprise as if they didn’t charge the officer they’d be accused of corruption / covering up.
It’ll be a very interesting court case.

How come this case has processed so quickly but the unlawful killing of Sean Fitzgerald is still no closer to concluding over 4 years later.
RIP young man.

CPS are gutless and the hope is that this is kicked down the road and the responsibility placed on a jury. I imagine there are plenty of firearms officers up and down the country contemplating their wish to carry right now.

Hope the fella gets gets completely exonerated and cleared of any wrong doing. And we all know that when that happens the demographic in question will start looting and burning down their own communities and then blame it all on whitey.

My hope is that the court case is reported honestly and with integrity by the media and that everything is revealed in respect to the evidence so that the public see the whole picture from both perspectives. I would imagine it will be a long case and could have a huge impact on the Police and in particular those officers who carry firearms.

You can’t have a system where you can only be happy if the decision goes your way regardless of whether it’s right or wrong.
Can you hazard a guess who made this comment a few months ago?

What confuses me a bit is that in Northern Ireland all our police are firearms trained and carry guns. But we rarely ever have people being shot by police like they do in England.
Do Wales and Scotland get much people being shot by police?

Can you hazard a guess who made this comment a few months ago? Well the case hasn’t been heard yet so we’ll see what happens then won’t we if the officer is found “not guilty.” As I and others have said it’s more than likely that the fear of a backlash may have had an influence on the CPS re the charging decision, so by charging the officer the decision has taken the final decision out of there hands and puts it firmly in the jury’s. A full trial is the most transparent way and the most public and revealing way of painting a picture of what happened, something which wouldn’t happen if it didn’t make it to court. There’d always be questions and accusations if that happened. This could be a very important case in relation to the arming of police. If I was a firearms officer and after hearing the case it felt like the officer had been unfairly treated I’d be handing my card in as it would make me feel very badly let down. That of course though is speculation.

Do Wales and Scotland get much people being shot by police? Here’s a list of those shot dead by police in the U.K. very low in number www.inquest.org.uk/fatal-police-shootingsI’d imagine that people killing each other with guns is far far higher.
