Here's a rail map site showing old lines. Quite staggering how much was around Stoke-on-Trent. The mineral lines alone would have made an amazing light rail network www.railmaponline.com/UKIEMap.phpThe sad thing for me personally is that I remember and travelled on both the Loop Line and Stoke to Newcastle line. Stoke to Leek, I can’t but as with the aforementioned “if only”.

As a PS. We still have an unfinished City By-Pass, how many decades from its start?

note this isn’t Liverpools better ..blah blah , far from it ..but to show even with the many mistakes Liverpool city region makes they’re still looking forward and pushing central government for funding on specific projects , rather than waiting for them to level up ...the people don’t let them get away with doing nothing .. sadly I don’t see or hear that from Stoke .. Indeed and in the recent Avanti reduced timetable debacle, we heard plenty from Andy Burnham. Anything from Stoke's council? Well, let's just check: Google: "avanti manchester city council statement", plenty of results regarding it. Google: "avanti stoke city council statement", nope. It sums it up really.

What does the helicopter do on match days? Maybe they could use that to ferry us from the city center!

The stadium should have been built in Etruria - ready made train station and plenty of pubs etc. in town. Or re-built in Stoke.

Or re-built in Stoke. but the money or at least large percentage of the money was available to redevelop that site specifically being ex coal mining it was move there or redevelop the Vic on the (very) cheap appreciate the caveat is had we stayed & badly redeveloped the Vic as I think would have been beyond doubt maybe sometime later < i..e once BET 365 took off we could have redeveloped the Vic (again) properly or moved to a better site as you say Etruria

I wrote to the club recently about building a wormhole from Whetherspoons in Hanley directly into their seat at the stadium. I gave a detailed route it could take (down the bank to the station, make a short stop off at the 1972 Cup Final, before arriving at your seat to be instantly served a drink by a hologram of Tony Dorigo) and even gave a fully-costed overview of how much they would need to spend.
All I got back was some lame response about "not scientifically possible" and "stop wasting our time".
Shambles of a club.

Previously this kind of request would be met with 'the club are looking into it...'

The original plan was for a stadium to be built at Etruria after the National Garden Festival had finished. The main requirement was that it was to be a stadium for both local clubs. Port Vale refused to move that far South, so the idea was shelved.

Don’t forget we even used to have tram system. It looks bloody perfect as well. Hopefully a connection to Leek gets done sooner rather than later.

Would be perfect for a city like ours now, would've alleviated the traffic problems so much.

The location and the grant were related. Without the grant we couldn't build, without the location we wouldn't have got the grant. Quite straightforward

Is there any other urban area of that size in the UK that doesn't have a bloody train station?! (I'm classing Kidsgrove as SOT)
