There is another former manager who definitely would have kept us up. Boskamp? Would probably have made a better job than Lambert.

There is another former manager who definitely would have kept us up. The one who was taking WBA down? The one who had kept West Brom up in yet another of his miracles that few managers in the world could match. Plymouth, Stoke, Palace and WBA - four clubs hopelessly resigned to relegation that TP somehow saved. WBA did go horribly wrong the next season but there were ownership changes. Anyway, TP’s career is over and he should concentrate on his retirement. I do think TP would have kept us up after Hughes left. The problem would have been the following season and whether TP was kept on.

Biggest transfer of our summer still needs to be done.
All budget needs to go into finding and getting, the right man to replace MON

After today I’d say we need (and i know it’s unrealistic)
an experienced number 1 GK a RWB a target man a LCB

Shin injuries are always very mysterious. Feel for the lad, looked solid in the team. Silver lining we will actually get a RWB thats a RWB?

Surprised Brighton letting him go.

He added: “It is now. We have to look at that area of the pitch in terms of our options to play there. We don’t really have a natural right-back/wing-back at the club other than bringing Harry to the club so that’s something we’ll have to look at.” Yea no shit we’ve been saying all summer we need another RWB Was he just expecting Clarke to go all season injury and suspension free?!

Was madness to freeze out Tommy Smith and seemingly not even try to offer him a new contract on reduced terms - he wasn’t perfect but a damn sight better than having literally nobody who can properly play a key position in the team.

Type of player we need however it’ll be interesting to see how he does in a whole season in the Champ. Didn’t realise he was 24. His goals output is what worries me a little. 1 in 3 last season. Prior to that more of a 1 in 12 man. I’m sure if we look hard enough there’s better value (wages) around. Goals aren't really the problem, its someone to hold it up and lay it off, Gayle, Campbell and Brown should be able to get enough between them but we're just not creating enough good chances.

Quite a few decent ones have gone. Laird's gone to QPR on loan, and Kesler-Hayden played against us today after signing from Villa yesterday The one that seems to be linked with a Champ move is the England u19 RWB from Arsenal. Don't know whether we could nip in there, but sounds like he's got something already sorted. theathletic.com/3473887/2022/08/12/brooke-norton-cuffy-arsenal-contract/Arsenal prospect Brooke Norton-Cuffy has signed a new contract with the North London club. The 18-year-old right-back had entered the final 12 months of his previous deal and was attracting interest from numerous suitors. However, The Athletic revealed on Monday that the highly-rated England youth international was set to extend his stay and is expected to join a Championship club on loan for the 2022-23 campaign. And Fossey, the young Fulham player seems to be still available too. www.lancs.live/sport/football/transfer-news/preston-transfers-arsenal-man-united-24738371Preston seem to be in desperate need of a RWB too, so wouldn't be surprised if it was them lining up the Arse player

Based on today's performance we desperately need another forward - someone in the target-man mould who can be more of a physical presence, hold up the ball, and offer something completely different than Brown, Gayle, and Campbell.
Essentially we need a Plan B.
I like Clarke, but Sparrow still looks incredibly raw and inexperienced. We need another wingback, especially as they are so crucial to the formation that MoN seems determined to persist with. We might need two if we need better quality cover for Tymon.

You'd just adapt wouldn't you? Go to a back four. Stick wilmot in at right back, he'll do a solid job probably.
Stick on an extra midfielder/attacking player. We'd probably be better for it.
But no, this manager make things needlessly complicated and the result is defeat, defeat, defeat
