Apart from the dreadful defending? Didn’t bother me tbh. It was an entertaining game. Yes.akin to a Whitehall farce but here's hopeful he can sort it out!

Perhaps the surprise is another Stoke lad is fated to suffer the humiliation of going to the Vale! I posted this yesterday evening, and now McCarron is gone. I actually feel that I could claim to be ITK for the first time in my Oatcake "career!"

Did he run a cafe? Or was that someone else? I think he was some sort of doorman/bouncer. You might have thought he had a cafe because he used to boast about how much he could eat at the breakfast buffet. Are you thinking of Erasurebot?

He spent no money on players and cut the wage budget significantly from last season? The club also paid him and his assistant off while getting Alex Neil in on a bumper 3 year contract. I think more of the moneys went there. Hopefully he'll have a new club soon for you to 'pretend' to support. I like MON but he should have gone at the end of last season with our thanks. Now he's been given a transfer window and left AN with no room to manoeuvre and a squad with gaping holes in certain positions. Get over yourself you header. Just because I've not fallen head over heels for a manager that nicked a point at home to a club that's won once in 13. Doesn't mean my support is "pretend" in any way. The manager was brought in and said its a talented and capable squad he expects to get out of the division this season or next. Why would the board waste a few million paying off MON and Dean Holden for another year of mid table mediocrity? They made the gamble and paid them off because they expect us to be competing. Alex has been brought in to do that. And that's what I'm hoping to see. He's got 4 winnable games here so hopefully we get some points on the board because we have a very difficult run of games after that.

No definitely Slogger I had a few arguments with him sorry Erasurebot but most of his posts were too non sensical to bother arguing with.

Still some decent players that are free agents at the moment.
Ben Foster Xander Clarke Sean Morrison Marek Vydra Fabian Delph Leandro Bacuna Tom Carroll Jose Izquierdo
I’d definitely have Clarke or Foster, Izquierdo and Delph on 12 month contracts
Pieters and Imbula are also free agents

I don’t think you’re appreciating just how boring MON’s football had become and how absolutely dead the atmosphere was inside the ground. They simply had to do something whether we challenge or not MON was eroding the customer base.

Yes you can sign free agents but our finances dictated we had to get to players out to bring players in. Etebo out might free up some money if we haven’t already spent it.

We're not in a position to start turning fans away, and we gained plenty the day we got promoted to the Premier League.......

We were looking like we could we be in for significantly worse than that. We'd got to the point where the 'gamble' was keeping the manager. Let's not pretend the objectives are different this season for Neil than they would have been for MON?

I never quite get that. Whatever our differences as fans surely we should want as many supporters as possible not just ones who agree with our point of view.

You pick up fans for all sorts of reasons why does it matter?

What would be your preferred lineup if everyone was fit from the current squad? I still want to see Alex Neil try a back 5 once Clarke, Souttar and Tymon are back. Possibly even with Clarke at RCB depending on how Sterling gets on. Sterling Wilmot Souttar Tymon Laurent Baker Campbell Powell Fosu Delap Powell is our best player. Play him in his best position. The 3 at the back looks better with Sterling but alienates Powell. Doing that is just terrible management. Do you actually think a manager identifies the players he's not allowed to alienate and decides his formation accordingly? Or for that matter a professional footballer announces he feels alienated by the choice of formation? Running anything on the basis of pandering to egos is a bad idea but doing it in football is a recipe for disaster.

Don't suppose it does, it just grates with me. I just get the feeling he can't wait for Neil to fail. Maybe I'm way off the mark it wouldn't be the first time. If he's genuine fair play.

Powell played all over the place for MON there’s no ego’s involved it was a bad word choice by the poster. It’s fairly unarguable that Powell’s best position is 10 in something like a 4231 but it’s drifting out of fashion. Personally I think he’s too good not to shoehorn into a 433 if that’s what you want to use. I do disagree that you allow one players best attributes to dictate the formation but talk of alienation is pure horseshit.
