Did I read in the paper hull are bidding 4m for someone? Think it was for some Watford no mark who only played 7 times for them last season. How the hell are they spending pennies? They have got a bit of flexibility, FFP-wise, I think because the previous ownership didn't really spend. And the new Turkish ownership have come in and think they can give it a bit of a go in their first window But, in this case, sounds like the fee will only climb high if they go up. www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/incoming-hull-city-signing-ozan-7178391City are paying a relatively nominal fee for the 27-year-old, though it could rise towards £4m should promotion be secured. And they about to sell Lewis - Potter for £20m

No need to apologise! You’re right there, doesn’t matter how rich the Coates family are, we can’t spend a penny until the FFP books are balanced. The dealings so far and MON’s comments point to us still being some way from this. However, I think he keeps his cards close to his chest. Last January we weren’t doing any business and a week later we had plenty of signings. As you say, the next few weeks will show exactly where we are at. True. But the transfers were achieved by juggling one out and one in. It looks like the same this season. We can only hope that some posters here are correct and we may be able to spend some money next June. Other clubs are also broke, so we may be able to do some swaps now that we have some players on lower wages. Dead right mate. Which just goes to show how much the managers hands are tied.

What could possibly go wrong with one of the coaches recommending a player?

Need a forward who can battle and hold the play up. Pace isn't necessary, an older head be ideal. He tried with Fletcher but too injury prone. Wouldn't mind an Ashley Barnes type player as Brown and Campbell don't work. Both Campbell and Brown can get double figures although not sure re Campbell at the minute, obviously, as can maybe Powell and Baker. A target man and a keeper are a must. Lack of outright pace wouldn’t need to be a factor but mobility certainly is. With an older player you’re always taking that risk that it’s one season too many like Fletcher last season. I’d prefer younger fitter and more reliable to wondering how many minutes a player is going to be available and effective for. A battering ram is a pretty blunt instrument, strength, stamina, aerial ability, aggression all far more important than being a good footballer.

Maja will be the striker 😉 Strangely enough he has non of the attributes I was looking for in my last post. He’s like the opposite of what we need. By all means get him for nothing as another option but ffs he’s just not what the manager finally acknowledged we need not too long ago.

Hoping we have 4 signings left: a loan left sided centre back and 3 forwards - 2 centre forwards, one at least good in the air if we are chasing games, and a pacy right sided forward

A goalkeeper and a target man would be my main priorities now. We could probably survive without any other additions if injuries went in our favour, but we definitely need upgrades in these areas.
I’d like to think that DWP will get more chances to come in as an attacking midfielder/wide forward this season, depending on the formation.

Wouldn’t mind us getting in another playmaker to come in for Vrancic, a target man and a solid keeper. What ever happens we need a bit of luck with injuries as our squads not deep in certain positions. It’d be nice if a couple of youngsters broke through.

I’d like to see Sparrow given a chance in midfield in the league cup/on the bench. Tezgel should be gradually broken in. It will be interesting to see if we loan both Taylor and Forrester out. They seem (to me) like the four close to the first team (other than DWP).

Don't we desperately need a right wing back? We have one loanee from Arsenal who is arguably a centre half.

Don't we desperately need a right wing back? We have one loanee from Arsenal who is arguably a centre half. Based on what he and MON have said, it's likely to be him starting there though. But worrying what would happen if he proved himself not up to it or got injured. I don't think a back three system could function with Duhaney or Wilmot there. So wouldn't think another option like Byrne would be remotely a luxury.
