Allen is OK, but he hasn't really been outstanding in any way either. In fact if the rumoured wages are right, £50K+ per week, we certainly could have got a better player for half of that money in my opinion. Where did I say he was outstanding? I just don't think all our woes are down to Joe Allen. In fact I'd say he is well down the list of dross we've signed in the last 5 or six years. Where did I say you said that? It was my opinion of his season.

His wages have been crippling the club (among others) since relegation and he's been no where near worth it, he's also up there with one of Hughes worst signings for me due to his long term impact. Not all his fault mind, not down to him he kept getting picked etc.

Time to go I think.
We need a clear out of all older players and a fresh start.
Apart from Soutter and maybe Tymon none of our squad are promotion quality. Even Baker's performances are variable.

So basically after years of us paying him ridiculous money by Championship standards, when he reaches the point where a pay cut is inevitable he heads elsewhere rather than take lower terms here. Or am I being too harsh?

Or am I being too harsh? A bit. I’m glad he’s going but he’s out of contract and fully entitled to seek the best deal he can get. We’d all do the same.

There is some utter crap spouted on here about Joe and always from the same idiots under the pretext say it often enough and people will believe it's true I have also noted that they couldn't have been to a game for years as they are on here 5 mins after kick off with their usual rubbish

I’ve been pretty sure he’d go for weeks….really mixed feelings. He has always tried his best and never seemed to duck out. But I think it best both parties have a change of direction.

So basically after years of us paying him ridiculous money by Championship standards, when he reaches the point where a pay cut is inevitable he heads elsewhere rather than take lower terms here. Or am I being too harsh? I do think that if Swansea offer him terms it's understandably where his heart is. He supports them and got his career started there. I do get the feeling though that if that doesn't happen he may well stay at Stoke despite the so called interest from 20 other clubs. I get the impression he has grown quite fond of the club. Walking out yesterday there was definitely a nostalgic look around all four stands as if he was taking all the memories in from the matches he's played here. Thinking back to how the ground rocked when he first came and comparing it to the half empty stands drowned out by the away fans must have been quite a sad feeling for him. His goodbye will have been tainted by the fact that the Coventry fans and players gate crashed it for so long. I can't blame them but after 5 minutes I thought the respectful thing for Coventry to have done would have been to leave the pitch. It wasn't as if they had anything to celebrate and it just began to look as if they were deliberately trying to show how good their fans were compared to the apathetic Stoke fans. I couldn't hear the interview with Allen and have no idea whether he gave any hints.

Would’ve been ok with him staying on massively reduced terms, but equally not crying he’s gone. Indifferent is how I feel.

Allen going could be a blessing in disguise I think. We can probably bring in a couple of higher end champo players at £20k a week and still save some money if he was on the reported £50k.

Seems like a decent bloke and pro. Not his fault he was been overpaid for years.
If he goes I’ll wish him all the best, he always seemed to be a good ambassador for our Club

It will be the best thing that's happened to the club in a while if we get rid and move on.

I have no doubt he's a proper sound guy, popular all around the club, been great for the youth coming through, a model professional etc... but we can't hide from the fact it's not been the best since he joined.
His arrival meant Bojan played less, our midfield became incredibly weak, his first touch is appalling, his wages have been an issue and he's only really had 2 good short spells in the 6 years he's been here.
I do wish him all the best and when he plays here with someone else, i'll clap and recognise the effort he put in for us, but i am excited for new possibilities.
cheers Joe.

A good player for us on and off the pitch, yes the saving in wages would be handy (not his fault how much he is being paid) You just know where ever he goes he will do Well and I suspect he will be Missed. Underrated player for us.
Best of luck where ever you go. I wouldn't be upset if he was here next season.

He seems quiet and doesn’t seem to much more than anyone else community wise. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing either just that he seems a real quiet person who bar actually playing the games you wouldn’t really knew he played for us.
