Has he signed somewhere else or do we have an option on him? Would you keep him at a lot lower wages? He and Baker play well together. Surely the ownership knows this a decision for a manger to make and not MON.

Not for me. Though he’s developing a really good partnership with Baker over recent weeks and if we can get him on reduced terms I’d offer them.

I can't stress enough how important it is to let him go. Talk of reduced terms is ludicrous unless he excepts the same conditions and salary as Thompson, they offer exactly the same to the team.

Not in my eyes is he better than Baker, in efficiency or influence. Allen has had 2 decent-ish (short spells) since he arrived. The first was just after Christmas when MON arrived, then he got injured, the second is now. The rest of the time he's been a jinx on the club, an unnecessary buy, and we've been on a downward spiral since. His contract situation when we went down caused a rift in the team (allegedly), and he's hardly pulled up trees getting us back into the prem, at great expense to us, but huge personal gain. His first touch of the ball is horrific, his second touch on the whole tends to be a tackle to regain the ball. Those stats being bandied around a while ago showing percentage of games he's played in, and points won, and the ones where he hasn't played and points won, are damning of his inclusion. (I don't have them to hand). I have no doubt he's a super cool guy, down to earth, and a model professional, but get rid so we can move forward.

Let him go, he's had a good few games recently but its all a bit too little too late for me.
Let a new man spend his wages that will suit the way he wants to play or at least give him the option to decide.

Get him gone. He's had a good month or so since his contract is nearly up, but aside from that he's been dross since he signed. It's probably best for all parties that he moves on.
Considering what we paid to sign him and what he continues to be paid, he should be absolutely dominating the league, but he is bang average in a bang average side.
At least for most of the other expensive waste of times we have recently brought in, we have had the sense to get rid, rather than keep playing them. Get him gone.

Exactly. “ band average in a bang average side” I played football at a good level but suffered a broken leg which kept me out for two years. When I came back I dropped right down the league and thought I’d piss it and be the best player on the pitch. How wrong was I. Because my team mates were basically shit there was never a runner, a pass on, balls were played to you chest high and the opposition were generally limited but more aggressive. It was by far harder benign a good player in a shit team believe me.

For most of his time at Stoke he's been a liability. It's only over the last few games that he's looked an asset to the side and much of that is due to how badly we have been playing as a team. He runs around a lot and looks busy but for the most part is largely ineffective. Do not renew his contract

It was by far harder benign a good player in a shit team believe me. He's never done anything to suggest that he is one of our better players though. It's clear how poor he is on the ball when next to someone with some actual quality, like Baker. Joe is a handbrake on our already limited attacking play, with his first thought to go backwards, whereas Baker picks the ball up on the half turn and able to move forwards. His first touch is abysmal, with his second usually being a tackle. He often gets bullied or played around when out of position chasing after the ball with an infuriating lack of positional discipline. He has been a constant in our worst team in recent history, however I will agree that he has slightly picked up now that his deal has nearly expired.

He has formed a good partnership with Baker, he seems to trust Baker and has been more positionaly disciplined as a result
He's on insane money but he's not going to get that anywhere now
With a huge pay cut would keep

And here we go again trying to retain a player who in my opinion has had an handful of good games in 4 years is it??
The blokes reportedly earning £2,500,000 a year at Stoke, Christ get him gone.

What a load of rubbish this is. He covers all of the pitch & very often is the last man in defence. Baker goes missing in matches & Allen covers for him. Take a look again the next time they play. He's our M.O.T.M. in most matches, with a consistent 7 performance. He's got more energy than any 2 other players, & covers more ground. He's like Whelan, not much liked or rated on here, but now he's left, he's seen as irreplaceable.

Allen and Baker is a good place to start, especially if again the centre halves will be changed. We need that physicality in midfield though, at the risk of repeating myself, and the manager needs to add it this summer.
