Only about an hour commute from Swansea to Cardiff so could still live in Swansea area if he has family there. I've no idea if he's moved his family down there yet and if he has where to but his extended family are all in Pembrokeshire near Tenby which is a good hour from Swansea and a further hour from Cardiff. Not out of the question but not unlike commuting from Stone to Cardiff every day. Would you do it? Suppose you could base yourself somewhere around Swansea, at a half-way point between the two? The fact Stoke have apparently offered him terms ,and the Sentinel think he's keen, suggest nothing is off the table re Stoke though, which if his family had already moved down there, it would be, you'd think?

I like Allen but the thing that worries me is that just retaining players will see us in mid table or below again. Allen’s a great pro but in this division a little lightweight. We need a proper destroyer besides Baker. That said Allen staying on a short term much reduced wage deal wouldn’t be a disaster. I’d rather see the back of Clucas and even Vrancic than him. 100% he’s one of our better players clucas and vranic are far more expendable Allen baker abd sawyers if we could get him with Thomson as back up is good enough for the top 6 in this league Sawyers has really grown on me. He’s a good player and rarely wastes the ball. We have dominated a lot of games posession wise. Just not sure what the biggest problem is. For me the biggest requirements are a target man and destroyer as I think with Sawyers and Allen together are too lightweight. Followed by a keeper.

It's right top there in the truly fucking annoying stakes with the people who say "up top" and the dickheads who call Alexander-Arnold "Trent".

None of the above description indicates the word "destroyer" in any way, shape or form.

Kustokie says we're strong in midfield? Really? Given the personnel and the fact that Clucas and Allen may well go, Sawyers is a loan player, Vrancic relatively old and Thompson the epitome of average, I don't see it. We could need three new midfielders (unlikely), but I'd settle for two 'starters', even if one is on loan. We need a sort out all over the pitch or else next season will look like this one. Relative to the other two third of the pitch our midfield is strong. Powell and Baker in front of Allen, with Thompson and Clucas on the bench is probably as good as gets in this league. I would not have said that in January but Allen and Baker are very experienced and seem to have formed a good partnership. I’d like to sign Sawyers to permanent contract because we need back-up, but there are other more critical areas to strengthen: the priority is the defense and right wing-back. Unfortunately wing-backs are hard to find. In fact, other than Tymon (and he’s not great) we have never had a good one since Hughes experimented with it the year we were relegated (it was actually the beginning of the end and a really bad move).

For an International footballer with over 60 caps his passing accuracy is awful, I don’t remember him being this bad when he first signed.

He had better players around him which made him look better than he is.. its been 5 years decline and Joe has been central on the pitch for the vast majority of that time...to for the club to move Joe on and get in a genuine midfield controller.

Just let him go. We need physicality and steel in midfield. You just know we'll resign Allen and try and get Sawyers back.

If we retain him we are unlikely to get in the genuine defensive midfielder this team clearly requires.

Unfortunately our last four or five years of bland mediocrity and demise coincide with Joe Allen's tenure. Time for a change in my humble opinion. He has picked up a bit in the last few games but I feel it would be better for all parties if he moves on and, hopefully, takes Clucas with him and we bring in a bit of steel.
