France have only bothered naming 25 I wonder how well-liked Benzema is in that group. He obviously isn’t liked by Giroud and he’s been convicted of blackmailing a former international teammate. Guy seems like a piece of crap to be honest. Indeed France have the best squad but not hard to see issues off the field translating to the pitch

Has done really well for Newcastle. However, it does remind me of the days when Darius Vassell would get a call up. Vassell was pretty good for England tbf. See no issue with calling up players in form for tournaments. Momentum is important. I do agree, r.e. form. I just think it’s a shame that the players that are in-form aren’t better. I didn’t mind Vassell, but I wouldn’t have been inspired to rely on him in the big games. Wilson is fine, but I don’t see him spearheading an attack when the time comes. If Kane gets injured, we won’t make it past the group.

I don't get why Coady would be in. He's such a basic centre back. Tomori adds pace and skill as an option.

However, there’s limited creativity in that midfield and the defence/goalkeepers don’t fill me with an awful lot of confidence. I don’t see why the US and Wales couldn’t nick an early goal and sit back, waiting for us to bore them to death. I just don’t understand why we regularly miss out on creating a central midfielder who can break down defences given that we are a densely populated nation that seemingly loves the sport.

Looks to be 25 leaked now- with one place for Mings, Loftus-Cheek or Gallagher.

Could be a Schillaci type, just hitting his stride at the right time.

Don't get Coady for Tomori and I'm an RLC fan but can see why Gallagher could get the nod. Wilson is better than Toney so pleased with that.

I’d have had Tomori, Smalling and Abraham for Coady, Maguire and Gallagher but it’s not too bad. Just a shame Southgate will focus on defence when we’ve got so much quality up top.

Dont think Tomori did himself any favours getting sent off / riled up when AC played Chelsea - was easily annoyed, lost his rag, made rash tackles
Press asking Gareth stupid questions about Maguire playing up front, Maddisons phone reaction, LGBT/Iran now - ffs - the media are boring twats

Smalling is a really interesting one - in the form of his life, scores goals, not even mentioned in dispatches. I would have taken him over Coady all day, and I dont mind Coady at all.

Connor Gallagher must be in Dreamland. Coady nowhere near international quality but probably in for his good character!

How does he justify picking Phillips who has played less than 20 minutes of football in 3 substitute appearances for Man City this season and not at all since the middle of September?

I must confess to never hearing about Tomori…..I’ve had to look him up I’m sorry to say. I used to think I was pretty up on football things but these days I’ve no interest in England until major tournaments and little interest beyond Stoke and the league they’ve are in. I am genuinely shocked not to have heard of him
