What does Sterling actually do? Has to be one of the most over hyped players of a generation. Apart from that, I’m absolutely convinced Southgate has no idea what his best team, formation, tactics actually are. Tin hat on and all that😉 Apart from score for England on a regular basis I'm not too sure mate I'm not Raheems biggest fan but Southgate is and his record for England over the last few years/tournaments is very good to be fair to him, so regardless of his club form, he will 100% go and I'd be amazed if he doesn't start. He was excellent in the Euros However his game is completely flat atm

What do we reckon for the 26 then? I wouldn't take Coady, but looks like he'll go Alexander-Arnold will probably go now James is out. There seems to be a lot of momentum for Loftus-Cheek getting in the squad. He'll probably gamble on Walker Rashford's probably done enough to squeeze into the 26? Phillips seems to be the only iffy one - if he's not fit, maybe he'll go conservative with Ward-Prowse? Or maybe Gallagher? Has Toney moved ahead of Tammy Abraham? Pickford Ramsdale Pope Trippier Alexander-Arnold Shaw Chilwell Walker Maguire Stones Dier Coady White Rice Bellingham Phillips Henderson Loftus-Cheek Sterling Foden Grealish Mount Saka Kane Rashford Toney Not following all that closely but is Tomori really not even going to make the squad? Looks like he and Guehi will potentially just miss out as it stands, although you never know. He had 2 poor games against Chelsea in the Champs League when Southgate was watching him apparently - and pointedly didn't give him any minutes in the last international break. Could come down to one of those 2 or Ben White. Maybe he'll go for one of them as they can play on the left. Everyone seems to be assuming White will probably go now, and can't see Coady not going. No doubt he'll start Maguire on the left when he plays the 3, and there's no obvious other left-sider, but just on numbers, maybe doubtful he'll take a 7th centre-half if Walker makes it as a utility player. There seems to be 23 likely picks - with 2 from Loftus-Cheek, Ward-Prowse and Phillips (if fit) in midfield - and one more striker from Abraham, Toney and Wilson? m.skybet.com/football/england-specials/event/279155081 Pickford (1/33) 2 Ramsdale (1/20) 3 Pope (1/20) 4 Trippier (1/25) 5 Alexander-Arnold (1/6) 6 Walker (1/2) 7 Shaw (1/12) 8 Chilwell (1/12) 9 Dier (1/20) 10 Maguire (1/12) 11 Stones (1/12) 12 Coady (2/7) 13 White (1/2) (Guehi (6/5), Tomori 5/4)14 Rice (1/33) 15 Bellingham (1/33) 16 Henderson (1/8) (Loftus-Cheek 4/5, Phillips Evs, Ward-Prowse Evs, Gallagher 9/2, Elliott 9/2)17 Sterling (1/33) 18 Foden (1/33) 19 Grealish (1/16) 20 Mount (1/33) 21 Saka (1/33) (Sancho 8/13, Bowen 7/4, Maddison 7/4)22 Kane (1/33) 23 Rashford (1/8) (Toney 8/15, Abraham 8/15, Wilson 5/4)

Saka seems fine after his knee scare.
World Cup starts in 18 days - not that anyone would know! It is a bit bizarre.

Chilwell looks to have a bad hamstring. Probably out Some of the top sides have had 13 games to play in 45 days leading up to the WC. This was an inevitable consequence of their workload. Frankly, I'm surprised more haven't got injured, although there's still time I suppose. Stupid arrangement, stupid place to hold it.

He’s a good player but I don’t think a massive loss, Shaw is bound to start and Trippier is comfortable on that side of required

This would be my 26 man squad. Excuse the odds, it's from the original post and I can't be arsed to delete them Jordan Pickford 1/12 Aaron Ramsdale 1/10 Nick Pope 4/9 DEF Luke Shaw 1/12 Kieran Trippier 7/4 Harry Maguire 1/20 John Stones 1/20 Ben White 1/3 Fikayo Tomori 5/2 Eric Dier 7/2 Kyle Walker 1/8 Trent Alexander-Arnold 1/3 (Reece James instead if he's close to being fit) Midfield Declan Rice 1/20 Jude Bellingham 1/20 Jordan Henderson 1/3 Ruben Loftus-Cheek 5/1 Kalvin Phillips 1/3 Attackers James Maddison 4/1 Mason Mount 1/20 Phil Foden 1/20 Jack Grealish 1/16 Bukayo Saka 1/10 Raheem Sterling 1/20 Harry Kane 1/16 Marcus Rashford 1/10 Callum Wilson 8/1

There is no left back good enough so I’d play Trippier right back and Shaw left back. Injury to Shaw and Trippier switches over mean TAA or Ben White come in on the right. Not ideal but I don’t see any worthy alternatives
