I wonder if 2 shoe ins for a back 5 being injured/potentially out of the world cup means a change to a back 4? I'm sure these won't be the only injuries either.

Yeah Ben White can be the full back/centre back option instead of Walker..... Makes sense to me, and Arnold replaces James.

Walker says he's "confident".
Southgate will probably include him provisionally.
When's the squad named - next Friday?

Chelsea pretty much confirming James is out of the World Cup
Chelsea Football Club has today released the following statement regarding Reece James…
Following the knee injury sustained in our away match against AC Milan, Reece has received treatment from the Chelsea medical department and visited a specialist this weekend.
After consultation between all parties, Reece will now undergo a rehabilitation programme and is expected to be out for eight weeks.

Provisional squad named tomorrow apparently, which can be anywhere between 35 and 55 players - so no real guide there, although it'll be interesting to see how wacky some of the provisional names are, or if he just keeps with his tried and tested Seems to be about 18 or 19 certs, with loads of different directions he could go in for the other 6 or 7 slots in the final26 m.skybet.com/football/england-specials/event/27915508Pickford (1/20) Ramsdale (1/12) Pope (1/12)

www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11332621/Crystal-Palaces-Eberechi-Eze-set-make-Gareth-Southgates-extended-England-World-Cup-squad.htmlEberechi Eze is expected to be named in England's provisional World Cup squad this week as the Crystal Palace attacker makes a late run for Qatar. Eze is back on Gareth Southgate's radar following an impressive start to the Premier League season with the Selhurst Park club. Southgate is due to name an extended squad of up to 55 players, which will then be whittled down to 26 ahead of the tournament, by Friday. It remains to be seen whether Eze can do enough to break into Southgate's final 26-man squad for Qatar, which is expected to be named on November 10. There is huge competition in the attacking areas and it is likely Eze will have to rely on injuries to have a realistic chance of making the final cut. Eze in the provisional squad - but there could be up to 55 in it!

Eze is behind Maddison in the pecking order for me. Will say a lot about Southgate if he thinks otherwise.

What do we reckon for the 26 then?
I wouldn't take Coady, but looks like he'll go Alexander-Arnold will probably go now James is out. There seems to be a lot of momentum for Loftus-Cheek getting in the squad. He'll probably gamble on Walker Rashford's probably done enough to squeeze into the 26? Phillips seems to be the only iffy one - if he's not fit, maybe he'll go conservative with Ward-Prowse? Or maybe Gallagher? Has Toney moved ahead of Tammy Abraham?
Pickford Ramsdale Pope
Trippier Alexander-Arnold
Shaw Chilwell
Walker Maguire Stones Dier Coady White
Rice Bellingham Phillips Henderson Loftus-Cheek
Sterling Foden Grealish Mount Saka
Kane Rashford Toney

Ward Prowse not RLC? Just had a quick look at the odds - RLC and JWP are both evens, but just noticed a lot of articles recently saying Loftus-Cheek should get in. He's starting most games under Potter. Abraham would've been a cert in the summer, but his star seems to have waned a bit. Southgate likes him but he's only scored 2 in 14 games this season and has been on the bench for Roma Nobody's really making a compelling case to be the Kane deputy.

Pat Nevin suggesting Sterling shouldn't even get in the squad such is his recent form, which obviously isn't going to happen.

What does Sterling actually do? Has to be one of the most over hyped players of a generation. Apart from that, I’m absolutely convinced Southgate has no idea what his best team, formation, tactics actually are. Tin hat on and all that😉

Tin hat on and all that😉 Apart from score for England on a regular basis I'm not too sure mate I'm not Raheems biggest fan but Southgate is and his record for England over the last few years/tournaments is very good to be fair to him, so regardless of his club form, he will 100% go and I'd be amazed if he doesn't start.
